What Is My Hero Academia About?
As a dedicated cinema enthusiast, I must say that “My Hero Academia” stands out as an engrossing Japanese anime series, birthed from the creative mind of Kōhei Horikoshi and his long-running manga. This thrilling sci-fi superhero adventure is set in a world where an astounding 80% of the populace wields extraordinary abilities known as Quirks. I find myself captivated by the story of a powerless boy named Izuku Midoriya, who dreams of becoming a remarkable superhero against all odds. Remarkably, he catches the eye of All Might, the most revered hero in history, who recognizes his hidden potential and extends an invitation for him to train under his guidance.
After assuming his heroic duties, Izuku receives the Quirk known as One For All, bestowed upon him by All Might. This extraordinary power allows Izuku to accumulate energy and amplify his physical capabilities, including speed, size, and strength. Once he masters One For All, Izuku enters a renowned high school alongside other young heroes, each possessing unique Quirks. United in their strength, they embark on assignments of varying risk levels, all while juggling the challenges that come with adolescence.
As a devoted fan, I can attest that with over 430 chapters in the “My Hero Academia” manga and counting, the television adaptation hasn’t quite managed to match its pace yet. However, both the manga and anime are set to culminate in the grandly titled “Final War,” a climactic event where the fate of Endeavor unfolds with a poignant display of heroism.

Who Is Endeavor in ‘My Hero Academia’?
In the climactic arc of “My Hero Academia,” Enji Todoroki is recognized as one of the most intricately developed characters. This esteemed and highly respected Professional Fire-user held the record for the highest number of successfully resolved cases throughout history, carrying on the legacy once held by All Might for years.
Until All Might’s official retirement, Endeavor remained his faithful second in command. Following All Might’s departure, Endeavor was officially crowned as the #1 Hero in the universe according to the Hero Billboard Chart JP.
Endeavor ascended to his elevated status by harnessing the power of his Hellflame Ability, which enables him to command fiery flames and mold them as desired. He’s immune to fire damage and can adjust the size, form, and blazing heat level. Moreover, he can use flames for long-range combat purposes, such as impaling an adversary like Nomu with a flaming spear or even projecting flames from his very eye when the villain One For All attempted to seize his superpower.
In the heat of the Final War, Endeavor endured a brutal physical assault after unleashing his Ultimate Moves like Flashfire Fist, Jet Burn, Hell Spider, Hell’s Curtain, and Prominence Burn. What remains uncertain is whether these battlefield wounds proved to be potentially fatal.

Does Endeavor Live or Die in ‘My Hero’s Academia’?
Endeavor’s destiny in the Final War echoes his past experiences during the Paranormal Liberation War. In a heart-wrenching twist, Endeavor discovers that his son, whom he couldn’t save from kidnapping as a child, has grown up to be Dabi, head of the League of Villains. After spending years under the impression Toya had perished, Endeavor plunges into remorseful despair upon realizing that Toya has transformed into the very villain he’s dedicated his entire life to defeating.
In the climactic conflict known as The Final War, Endeavor, who previously raised a mass murderer, seeks redemption. His past is unveiled, revealing that his ambition to be a hero stemmed from witnessing his father rescue a young girl from danger during his childhood. Tragically, his father died alongside the child after the ordeal. Moved by this event, Endeavor adopted the name “Endeavor” and swore to shield innocent people, something his father was unable to do. As he battles and sustains severe injuries, a moral dilemma arises that ultimately guides Endeavor’s fateful choice.
In their fierce clash against All For One, Endeavor loses his right arm after receiving a Rivet Stab, and following their encounter, he sustains extensive burns on both his face and body. After inflicting damage on All For One with his Hellflame abilities, there’s an opportunity for Endeavor to avenge Dabi, but at a great cost. As the Final War comes to a close, Endeavor is unable to walk and must use a wheelchair. He can be seen wrapped in bandages due to his burn injuries, hinting at a prolonged recovery process that impacts his final destiny.
After his valiant fights in The Final War, Endeavor does not meet his end. Rather, he deliberately steps down from active duty as the top Hero with more resolved cases than any other in history. What’s even more touching, Endeavor pledges to spend the rest of his days making amends for the remorse he harbors over Dabi’s descent into villainy. Beyond his fiery battles and accolades, Endeavor’s real heroism lies in acknowledging his mistake and dedicating the remainder of his life to making amends for it.
Fans are eager for the arrival of My Hero Academia Season 8 and the additional storyline in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. It’s possible that Endeavor, one of the Pro Heroes, could be featured in an upcoming spin-off anime series. Don’t forget, you can catch up on My Hero Academia on Hulu and Netflix!
