On a Saturday in Milan, Stone Island revealed its Fall/Winter 2025 collection in a large industrial exhibition space. The showroom was partitioned by glass sectionals, separating the new offerings from the main outerwear brand into different sub-categories: Ghost, Marina, and Stellina were among them.
In a refined manner, the Stone Island Phantom exuded elegance, showcasing an abundance of monochromatic formal wear crafted from the brand’s distinctive DAVID-TC fabric. Contrastingly, the Marina collection was vibrant and modern, introducing a fresh, high-tech silver ribbed badge in a bold new design. Meanwhile, Stellina maintained its sleek cosmopolitan vibe, and a novel “Raw Beauty” collection repurposed scraps from Stone Island’s past into shredded and rewoven garments, each piece incorporating elements from the brand’s growing archive.
In other areas, the brand’s primary line was heavily influenced by Japanese design methods and way of life. Various items featured a unique dyeing technique modeled after traditional indigo dyeing, while some were inspired by Japan’s vibrant neon-lit metropolises and stunning natural scenery.
There was an abundance of tech-focused clothing to examine and touch, such as the Clear Coat garment, which is a two-layer jacket featuring a transparent polyurethane shell, lined with cotton moleskin, and the Unbalanced Ripstop Prismatico, a hooded coat crafted from ripstop cotton with a thin polyurethane layer inspired by Stone Island’s signature “Reverse Color Process” treatment.
The vibrant color-block knit cardigan equally caught my attention, crafted using a five-strand cotton knit ribbed design that was hand-painted with multiple colors. Moreover, the brand’s iconic Ice Jacket, initially launched in 1989, resurfaced; this piece transforms color when it comes into contact with heat due to its two-layer thermally sensitive material — and now, for the first time, it’s offered as a sweater as well.
