Is Noel Fielding Leaving Bake Off? Not Really – He’ll Host Despite Dick Turpin Show Drama

Contrary to speculation about his involvement in Apple TV+’s show “The Imaginary Exploits of Dick Turpin,” Noel Fielding is set to resume his role as host on The Great British Bake-Off. His representative has confirmed that, despite the recent cancellation of “Dick Turpin,” Fielding will indeed be back for another season of this beloved reality show.

A representative for Fielding has subsequently released this statement, which we initially came across through Deadline:

There’s been no talk about Noel leaving ‘The Great British Bake Off’. We’ve kept in touch with Channel 4 and Love Productions, and his resignation was never brought up during those discussions. We can confirm that he will be back to co-host the upcoming season of ‘Bake Off.’

It was mentioned by Deadline that Love Productions/Channel 4 are confidently expecting the actor to rejoin the tent when the new season of Bake-Off starts filming.

What Happened With ‘The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin’?

The concern over Fielding’s continued participation in Bake-Off arises from his contentious departure from his Apple TV+ series, The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin. Filming for the second season of this show came to an abrupt halt last week when Fielding failed to appear on set numerous times. According to sources close to production who spoke to The Sun, Fielding was unable to attend the planned and rescheduled filming dates, ultimately leading to the series being shut down due to lack of progress. It appears that legal action may be taken against Fielding for breach of contract as he has yet to return to set following the Christmas break.

A representative from PBJ Management, acting on behalf of Fielding, clarified to The Sun that one of the main actors is still recovering and unable to finish filming due to poor health. It was later disclosed by production sources that this unwell actor was actually Fielding, who has been absent from public view since his reported trip to France. Fielding, who is also a writer for the series, has not been spotted in public since then.

neither Apple TV+ nor the show’s creator Fielding have made any statement about the sudden cancellation of the series. This news is disheartening for everyone involved, particularly because the series was well-received in its initial season. Unfortunately, this decision has left hundreds jobless. The series centered around the legendary and romanticized English highwayman who often robbed, poached, burgled, and killed across the English countryside on his horse Black Bess, with Fielding serving as a writer for it.

This show playfully satirized the classic crime genre, boasting a distinguished lineup of British acting talent. Among them were Fielding portraying Dick Turpin, Duayne Boachie as Honesty Barebone, Ellie White as Elaenor “Nell” Brazier, Marc Wootton as Moose Pleck, Dolly Wells as Eliza Bean, Mark Heap as John Turpin, Geoff McGivern as Lord Alistair Rookwood, Joe Wilkinson as Geoffrey the Gaoler, Kiri Flaherty as Little Karen, Hugh Bonneville as Jonathan Wilde, Asim Chaudhry as Balthazar / Craig the Warlock, and Tamsin Greig as Lady Helen Gwinear. It was rumored that Jason Isaacs, Dawn French, Miranda Richardson, along with Jamie and Natasia Demetriou, were to join in Season 2.
