Champion Holds First Pitti Uomo Presentation Since 2018 – ‘Champion: A Portrait’

Following the artistic leadership of Maurizio Donaldi, Champion Europe will make its comeback at Pitti Uomo. Dubbed “Champion: A Portrait“, this exhibition represents the brand’s inaugural appearance at Pitti Uomo since 2018.

A portrait represents a fleeting instant in someone’s life. It is the process of condensing – capturing the intricacies and paradoxes of a person into a single, static depiction. Their past, their present, and their future are all encapsulated within it. Yet, a portrait can also serve as a medium for projection: an artistic platform to convey feelings or ideas. This sentiment was expressed by Champion Europe in an Instagram post, echoing the theme of the exhibition displayed in its entranceway.

Arranged haphazardly on the showcase, you’ll find a mix of zip-up sweatshirts, hoodies, and collegiate crewnecks. Accompanying these casual items are stylish jackets and dresses crafted with “REVERSE WEAVE” construction, giving them a tailored look.

Indeed, in that regard, yes, the exhibition does depict Champion. It represents our past, our current state, and our future aspirations. However, it transcends simply being a portrayal of Champion himself. Instead, it embodies various aspects of culture, society, and transformation. Ultimately, it serves as a reflection of ourselves.

At the event, Champion showcased both its classic and the latest European line from “BLCK (Nowhere University)”, characterized by their distressed and all-black styles. On-site, print and textile designer CJ Pidlaoan added a personal touch to the garments with custom hand-painted artwork.
