Santa Barbara Film Fest to Host U.S. Premiere of Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2’ (Exclusive)

In the second chapter of the epic American western film series by Kevin Costner, entitled “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2“, is set to debut in the United States at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Following the red carpet premiere of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 at Cannes Film Festival this past spring, I’m now eagerly anticipating the release of a film that made its debut last summer at the Venice Film Festival. Just as Costner shared insightful details about Horizon during an exclusive podcast recording on the Croisette for The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter, I can’t wait to dive deeper into this new movie.

Starting on February 7th, the Arlington Theatre will be showing the first movie at 2 pm, followed by the second one at 6 pm. After the second film ends, Kevin Costner, a local of Santa Barbara who is involved in various aspects of this film (co-writing, directing, producing, and acting), will engage in a Q&A session. This conversation will be facilitated by Roger Durling, the executive director of SBIFF.

The festival is also planning to showcase “Beyond the Horizon”, an intriguing documentary offering a glimpse behind the scenes of the film’s production, on February 13 at 8:20 p.m. Afterward, there will be a question-and-answer session featuring Kevin Costner and director Mark Gillard of “Beyond the Horizon”. This engaging discussion will be led by SBIFF programming director Claudia Puig.

It’s said that the budget for both Horizon films totalled $100 million, with $38 million coming directly from Costner himself. Unfortunately, the first film only earned a total of $38 million globally, which raised doubts about the release of the second installment and Costner’s plans to produce further third and fourth installments.
