2025 Oscar Nominations (Updating Live)

The 2025 Oscar nominations will be revealed Thursday morning.

Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang will reveal the nominees for this year’s awards live at 5:30 a.m. Pacific Time, directly from the Film Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

2025’s Oscar nominations will be divided among 23 categories, which encompass the likes of best picture, director, acting roles (both lead and supporting), screenwriting for adapted and original scripts, documentaries, animated features, original songs, scores, costume design, makeup and hairstyling, cinematography, editing, visual effects, production design, and more, between the actress from Saturday Night and the actor from Wicked.

Movie enthusiasts can watch the live streaming of the nominations reveal and keep track of the candidates as they’re announced.

The announcement of the nominees for the 2025 Academy Awards, initially planned for January 17th, was postponed twice due to the Los Angeles wildfires. These devastating fires have resulted in at least 28 fatalities, destroyed over 14,000 structures, and burned close to 40,000 acres of land.

Due to the wildfires that broke out in Los Angeles on January 8, coinciding with the start of voting for this year’s nominees, the Film Academy initially extended the voting period until January 14 and planned to announce the nominees on January 19. However, as the extent of the fire damage became clearer over the following week, the Academy made another decision to further extend the voting deadline to January 17 and set January 23 as the new date for announcing this year’s nominations.

As a dedicated fan, I’m proud to say that I, along with the Academy, have generously pledged $1 million towards the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s wildfire relief efforts. This contribution includes the $250,000 originally allocated for the Oscar nominees luncheon on February 10th, an event that has been unfortunately canceled due to these circumstances.

This year’s Oscars are still set to proceed, as announced on Wednesday, but it was further disclosed that this year’s event will also acknowledge and pay tribute to the city of Los Angeles.

In a letter to members, Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Janet Yang expressed their intention to celebrate Los Angeles as the city of dreams, emphasizing its charm, tenacity, and century-long appeal for filmmakers and creative thinkers. They plan to acknowledge recent events while focusing on the power, ingenuity, and hopefulness that are characteristic of both Los Angeles and our industry.

On Sunday, March 2nd, the 97th Academy Awards, led by Conan O’Brien as host, will be broadcast live from coast to coast. The event, which is taking place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, starts at 4 p.m. Pacific Time (PT) or 7 p.m. Eastern Time (ET). Last year’s earlier start time will be maintained for this show, and it can be watched on ABC and Hulu.

The 2025 Oscar nominees will be updated below as they’re announced live. Refresh for the latest.

More to come.
