Approximately six months from now, James Gunn’s Superman will kick off the cinematic part of the DC Universe, and next summer, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will continue the journey on the big screen. House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock is set to play Kara Zor-El in this film, with Gunn, who jointly manages DC Studios, confirming that production has started. An intriguing tidbit about Alcock’s portrayal of Kara in the upcoming DC movie has also been revealed.
Gunn and Alcock both captured the same image of Alcock seated in a director’s chair commonly used on film and television sets, marking the beginning of principal photography at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. Have a look for yourself below, and pay attention to the S symbol etched on the backrest of the chair.

It’s not surprising at all that Supergirl sports the identical crest as her relative Superman (Kal-El/Clark Kent), given it symbolizes the House of El on Krypton. But take a good look, you’ll see the ‘S’ emblem in the shield is red, similar to Superman’s, yet the background color is navy blue instead of the usual yellow. Upon zooming in and enhancing the image, it’s clear that the shade is distinct from the chair where actress Milly Alcock sits.
