A musical adaptation of the 1987 cult horror-comedy The Lost Boys is planned for Broadway.
The new musical titled “The Lost Boys” is scheduled to debut on Broadway at the Palace Theatre in spring 2026. This musical will boast music by The Rescues, with direction by Michael Arden who has won a Tony Award for his work on “Parade” and “Maybe Happy Ending”. The book for this production is being penned by David Hornsby, a writer and producer from the show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, as well as Chris Hoch.
An exclusive, industry-only event featuring a unique staging of the musical is set for March 14th. Notably, it’s being produced by some familiar faces from Broadway and the silver screen – James Carpinello, Marcus Chait, and Patrick Wilson.
Michael Arden is an exceptional director, and having him breathe fresh life into a legendary film like ‘The Lost Boys’ is exhilarating. This reimagining is set to unfold at the legendary Palace Theatre, and it’s truly exciting! David Hornsby and Chris Hoch have done a fantastic job preserving the essence of this classic film and its cherished characters while also crafting something novel and distinct for the stage. This production promises to delight long-time fans of the movie as well as those encountering this timeless tale for the first time.
As a gamer, I’m excited to dive into this game that features tunes penned exclusively for it by The Rescues, a rock group renowned for hits like “My Heart With You” and appearances on various hit TV series. Plus, they’ve given a fresh twist to some of their already popular tracks too!
In this new town that a family of three – two teenage brothers, their divorced mother – have moved to, it turns out there’s an unexpected population: vampires. This is the storyline of the Warner Bros. movie directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Richard Donner. Notable cast members include Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, Corey Feldman, and Corey Haim.
The production of this musical is being made possible through a unique agreement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures. Mark Kaufman and Lauren Shuler Donner are lending their creative expertise to this venture, acting as advisors on the project.
In the upcoming musical titled “The Lost Boys,” Ethan Popp will oversee the music, while Lauren Yalango-Grant & Christopher Cree Grant will handle the choreography. The scenic design is entrusted to Dane Laffrey, who previously worked on “Maybe Happy Ending,” and the costumes are designed by Tony Award winner Susan Hilferty, known for her work in “Wicked.
