Shawn Ryan is the one who developed ‘The Night Agent’, an action-packed, suspenseful spy TV series for Netflix, adapted from Matthew Quirk’s novel. The narrative revolves around Peter Sutherland, a green FBI agent in Washington, D.C., who holds a seemingly mundane and tedious job as the late-night telephone operator at the White House. However, his routine of babysitting a phone that rarely rings takes an exciting turn when he receives a call one particular night, leading him into a vast web of mystery and conspiracy.

Upon receiving the call, Peter learns about Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), a skilled cybersecurity professional whose aunts and uncles were once Night Agents before their sudden, enigmatic deaths. His primary tasks include ensuring Rose’s safety and unmasking a traitor concealed within the FBI who may be connected to these murders. However, due to complex bureaucratic camouflages, treacherous betrayals, and traditional intelligence manipulations, solving this intricate conspiracy turns out to be more challenging than initially anticipated.

In a life-or-death situation, Peter encounters deceptive government agents and relentless killers pursuing him. The pair of assassins, Ellen and Dale, portrayed by Eve Harlow and Phoenix Rae, are hot on his trail with murderous intentions. Ellen, reminiscent of Saoirse Ronan’s impressive portrayal as the child assassin Hanna in the 2019 Prime Video adaptation of the Joe Wright film, showcases her exceptional skills as a hitwoman.

As a devoted fan, I must express that Marissa, who initially was tasked with capturing Hanna and dismantling UTRAX, surprisingly develops a sense of protectiveness towards her. This is particularly true when Erik’s safety is at stake. Her role evolves into something akin to a guiding figure. Beyond the allure of exotic locales and diverse international backdrops, Hanna’s unwavering action sequences on screen are simply outstanding and frequently surpass the thrilling gunplay seen in The Night Agent, leaving a lasting impression with every precision-aimed shot.

Why ‘The Night Agent’ Fans Must Watch ‘Hanna’

If you’re captivated by the intricate web of deceit, double agents, and government conspiracies in “The Night Agent”, you’ll find yourself even more hooked by the 22-episode journey of “Hanna”. While it may not be a traditional spy thriller, Hanna’s action sequences are incredibly intense and often surpass the repetitive gunplay found in shows like “The Night Agent”. Unlike the one-dimensional combat scenes in many police procedurals, Hanna exhibits exceptional skills as an assassin, often using archery and hand-to-hand combat to neutralize her enemies, acting as a formidable one-person army.
