Following the popularity of “The Perfect Couple” on Netflix, it seemed inevitable that another one of Elin Hilderbrand’s novels set on Nantucket would be adapted. Although I had been eagerly anticipating the adaptation of the heart-wrenching novel “28 Summers“, Peacock has opted for a different approach, and they’ve even recruited Jennifer Garner to assist with the production.
In the latest developments regarding book-to-screen adaptations, Peacock is set to produce a TV series based on “The Five-Star Weekend”. This novel revolves around a woman grieving the loss of her husband who embarks on a weekend escape with five women from different phases of her life. They indulge in dining, drinking, and activities together. The book offers an engaging mix of recipes, drama, hidden truths, deceptions, idyllic beaches, and much more, promising an intriguing viewing experience when it airs on the small screen.
Garner isn’t just serving as an executive producer in the series; she also takes on the role of Hollis Shaw, who organizes a luxurious weekend getaway for her friends. It remains unclear who else will be cast, but the unique concept of the book involves Shaw inviting old friends from different stages of her life to spend a weekend together, and I can’t wait to see which renowned actors join the project!
It seems likely that now that Peacock has officially given the go-ahead to this project for a series (as reported by Deadline), some exciting names might be joining the team. We’re eagerly waiting for more information about when it will air on TV. Once we have more details, those with a Peacock subscription can look forward to being captivated by the drama and intrigue!
Among Elin Hilderbrand’s books, “The Five Star Weekend” would likely be near the top of my list for adaptation, given its more intriguing nature compared to the previously mentioned heartwarming yet bittersweet “28 Summers.” Admittedly, it wouldn’t be my initial pick, but I find the casting choice for Garner appealing and am hopeful that the cast will deliver compelling performances. If you’re a fan of “The Perfect Couple,” you can expect the setting to be equally impressive as well.
Regarding Nantucket, it seems the author has completed books there with her upcoming novel “Swan Song” in 2024 and is also developing a YA series with her daughter. However, a substantial part of me wishes she’d explore another beach locale for her writing someday. For now, it’s delightful to witness her captivating novels receiving recognition on television screens. I’m also keeping my fingers crossed for the return of “The Perfect Couple” in its second season.
