Justin Baldoni’s 2 AM Apology to Blake Lively: Is It Evidence or Just Creepy?

The ongoing legal dispute between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively over their film “It Ends With Us” is now on its 3,475th day. Recently, Baldoni has presented additional evidence that he claims contradicts Lively’s version of events and portrays her as a bully who stole his movie. This new evidence includes a voicemail he left for Lively in 2023 concerning a pivotal scene, the rooftop scene, which was initially thought to be at the heart of their disagreement when the film first premiered. It seems that while it was previously believed Ryan Reynolds rewrote this scene, Lively was the one making most of the changes. Baldoni argues that the voicemail supports his arguments about Lively, but interestingly enough, it also seemingly backs some of her claims against him.

By the given deadline in April 2023, Baldoni left Lively a voicemail at 2:00 AM, following her less-than-ideal reaction to his script adjustments on the rooftop scene. He explains that he released this message as a means to express his regret towards Lively, while simultaneously indicating that he felt compelled to yield to her authority in order to preserve the movie. In a six-minute apology, Baldoni admitted, “‘I’m really sorry, I messed up,’” and further stated, “‘I will acknowledge my mistakes and apologize when needed. I’m far from perfect, as my wife can confirm.’

In a more heartfelt manner, Baldoni continues to express both regret and admiration towards Lively, saying, “I might irritate you, possibly, but I promise to apologize and correct my course. I’m truly sorry for making you feel that way. I assure you, I will strive to improve.” He also seems to allude to Lively’s close friendship with Taylor Swift when he writes this, as Lively once referred to them as her ‘dragons’ in a text to Baldoni. This suggests that Lively views her husband and her best friend, Swift, as her ‘dragons’. Baldoni appears to be acknowledging this in his message.

Absolutely, it sounds like you’ve got some fantastic friends there! Everyone could benefit from having friends as creative and talented as yours. After all, they are among the most inventive individuals around.

Justin Baldoni’s Voice Message Could Possibly Substantiate Some of Blake Lively’s Claims

This message, sent out by Baldoni, pertains to allegations made by Lively in her lawsuit. In this lawsuit, she accuses Baldoni of making inappropriate advances and comments towards her while filming “It Ends With Us“. Towards the close of his voice message, Baldoni makes a strange remark, first referring to filmmakers as “jerks”, after labeling them as such.

I assure you, it hasn’t been and won’t be like that with me. Working with Blake Lively is the most thrilling prospect for me, not just working with her, but collaborating with her entirely. That’s my ultimate goal.

As a discerning movie critic, I must admit that some viewers might overlook the director’s remark, “and have all of her,” but it’s not hard to understand why Lively might find it unsettling or even creepy. The scene reaches its climax when Baldoni abruptly interrupts himself and says, “‘I’m sorry. You probably have kids clinging to you everywhere, and a baby nursing, while I prattle on.'”

Remember, Lively has expressed concerns about the director intruding upon her privacy, even going so far as to enter her trailer while she was breastfeeding. While this latest comment may not be a direct reference to that incident, it still feels somewhat inappropriate for a director to casually mention to his leading actress that she might be nursing a baby. Some might label her overly sensitive, but such a comment could easily be deemed inappropriate by any company’s HR department.

The most recent turn in the prolonged dispute is that a federal judge has proposed a tentative trial date for March 9, 2026. This judge, Lewis J. Liman, stated that by January 30, 2025, both parties should submit a case management plan with deadlines to facilitate a trial on the given date. Additionally, Judge Liman has accelerated a scheduled hearing from February 12 to February 3, addressing Amanda Lively’s plea for a gag order against Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s attorney. This hearing aims to address Lively’s request for Freedman to stop presenting evidence in the media due to concerns it may influence potential jurors. Lively’s legal team seeks to halt Freedman’s alleged “unlawful retaliation against Ms. Lively” and demands that he cease making further defamatory statements related to her. It is also noted that Wayfarer Studios, co-founded by billionaire Steve Sarowitz, is financially supporting Baldoni and his legal representation, as asserted by Lively’s team.

The defendants known as Wayfarer are being supported financially by a wealthy individual who has vowed to spend $100 million with the intention of damaging the reputation and lives of Ms. Lively and her family prior to the trial. Mr. Freedman is employing this financial resource, his clientele, both current and former, and an overt media and social media strategy to tarnish the character of Ms. Lively before the court proceedings.

Can we move up that March 2026 trial date, please?
