Madonna criticizes the Trump administration for a series of executive orders that specifically affect disadvantaged communities.
On Thursday, the well-known pop figure voiced her backing for the LGBTQ community on her previous platform (previously Twitter), following the president’s decision to sign a directive that prohibits transgender individuals from joining or serving in the military, which he resumed his duties at the White House on Monday.
It’s deeply disheartening to see our recent administration gradually undoing the hard-won freedoms we have fought tirelessly for over the years,” Madonna posted, including LGBTQ pride and broken heart emojis. “Keep fighting!
On Monday, President Trump implemented a contentious executive order named “Strengthening Military Superiority and Preparedness.” This action re-establishes a policy from Trump’s previous term and overturns a 2021 order by Joe Biden, which permitted transgender individuals to join the military openly. Additionally, in his initial week back in office, the president has reversed initiatives focusing on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
It’s disheartening to see our recent administration gradually eroding the hard-won freedoms we’ve fought diligently for over the years, particularly those symbolized by the rainbow flag. Keep the struggle alive! 🏳️🌈💔

Madonna, famously known as the “Material Girl,” has been a strong ally of the LGBTQ community since the 1980s. During that time, she vocally supported the fight against HIV/AIDS and championed for gay rights. In 2019, her efforts were recognized with the Advocate for Change Award at the 30th annual GLAAD Media Awards.
As a gamer speaking up, I stand with Sarah Kate Ellis, the leader at GLAAD. Just like many others in the military, transgender individuals serve with honor, making our nation and military even stronger. We pass the same stringent health and readiness tests, and we’re dedicated to doing so. The Trump administration’s misleading claims against transgender people are unfounded and based on false information. LGBTQ Americans have faced this before, overcoming ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ and Trump’s previous ban on trans military service. Military experts have consistently stated that discriminating against service members based on their identity undermines our country’s safety.
Selena Gomez, like many other celebrities, is expressing disapproval towards Trump’s harsh new policies, particularly the issue of deporting undocumented immigrants. In a now-removed Instagram video, she emotionally shared her concerns, stating, “So many people are being targeted… the children. I just don’t understand.” As tears ran down her face, she added, “I’m truly sorry. I wish I could help but I can’t find a way. I’ll do everything in my power, I promise.
