The eagerly awaited third season of the South Korean horror-thriller series, Squid Game, officially has a release date – June 27, 2025, on Netflix. This information was shared during Netflix’s presentation of their upcoming slate for 2025, which also unveiled trailers for other anticipated titles such as The Old Guard 2, Tom Hardy’s movie Havoc, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, and others.
As a movie critic, I must say that Hwang Dong-hyuk’s “Squid Game” has undeniably taken Netflix by storm. This series not only holds the title for the most-viewed show on their platform but also shattered another record, becoming the most-watched series in a week during 2024 with a staggering 4.9 billion minutes watched in the last week of December alone! The first season was met with widespread acclaim upon its release in 2021, and discussions about a sequel began almost immediately. Fast forward three years to December 2024, and fans were eagerly devouring the seven episodes at a pace that would put even the most dedicated contestants of “Red Light, Green Light” to shame – and without the fear of being eliminated!
In Season 3, we’ll witness the climax of Seong Gi-hu’s quest to dismantle the sinister group responsible for designing the lethal game in which contestants battle each other to win a life-changing fortune.
