Michael Rubin’s sports company, Fanatics, has teamed up with Rich Kleiman and Kevin Durant’s sports media organization, Boardroom, to broaden their involvement in the realm of athlete career advancement.
Businesses are introducing Chapter: Next, a specialized training initiative tailored for athletes and their support staff. The inaugural edition of this program will take place in June, concluding at Fanatics Fest in New York City, where the organization intends to establish a networking lounge specifically for athletes and entertainers. Additionally, the companies are planning another event in December, targeting athletes who are currently off-season, such as those in the WNBA, NWSL, and MLB.
In late 2023, Fanatics initially stepped into the realm of athlete development through their Athlete Immersion Program. However, Chapter: Next notably broadens these initiatives.
I’m pumped up about collaborating with Rich, KD, and the Boardroom crew to revamp and upgrade Fanatics’ athlete development initiatives! Fanatics is all about the amazing athletes from various sports and their bond with fans worldwide. Our mission has always been to provide opportunities for them to succeed even after their playing days are over, and this program is designed specifically for that purpose.
Boardroom’s philosophy has always been about inviting people into our privileged spaces and creating platforms for knowledge exchange,” remarked Rich Kleiman, co-founder and CEO of Boardroom. “I am thrilled about the collaboration with Michael Rubin and the Fanatics team to amplify their existing efforts, introducing exceptional programming to athletes and sports teams.
Chapter Next is currently devising its plans, and according to the companies, it will encompass a diverse array of opportunities. This will include curriculum collaboratively designed with the University of Southern California, one-on-one mentorship, dinner events with CEOs, entrepreneurs, and influential figures in the industry, organized discussions featuring experts, practical sessions with Fanatics executives, a Mitchell & Ness design competition, and access to the Boardroom Meeting House at Fanatics Fest.
