Following several months of anticipation, Marvel enthusiasts have finally been gifted with a fresh “Thunderbolts“* trailer. Although a quick montage of scenes was displayed during Super Bowl LIX in 2025, Marvel Studios has now uploaded the complete theatrical trailer onto their official YouTube channel. The overwhelming majority of fans commenting on this trailer and its accompanying official post from Marvel Studios express the same sentiment — they’re absolutely thrilled to witness the final version.
@BELOVASHAWKEYE posted a meme expressing excitement that reads: “Got stood up, gave a standing ovation, performed a somersault, shed tears, did it again, sat back down, stood up once more, shouted, clapped, sat back down.” This perfectly conveys the enthusiasm of Marvel fans everywhere, as they rejoice to see an unconventional group of characters triumph over villains and receive their well-deserved recognition.
AndrewSchrock expressed on YouTube that the trailer surpassed his highest expectations. He’s eagerly anticipating the film,” said AndrewSchrock on YouTube. While some found issues with the trailer, there’s equal enthusiasm for the movie – and it appears that one specific character is generating a lot of excitement.
Fans are pretty excited to see Sentry in action
Who garnered the most praise among the characters? Many viewers are intrigued by the character Sentry, or The Void (portrayed by Lewis Pullman), who will serve as the film’s primary adversary – a fact hinted at in the initial “Thunderbolts” trailer. While the first trailer provided fans with a more detailed glimpse of Sentry, this extended version includes several distant and back-facing shots of him. (It is worth mentioning that none of these shots reveal his face.)
In the realm of comics, Sentry is famed for his immense power; he’s connected to the Super Soldier program that brought forth Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). This individual possesses such strength in some storylines that he could potentially cleave a planet in two. Given his formidable abilities, comic enthusiasts are left puzzled as to how the ordinary Thunderbolts squad might withstand him. @cjspeed000 on X commented, “He can effortlessly overpower the Tbolts… I’m curious about how this will unfold.
Many audience members are clearly thrilled about him. Adam Greenbaum, for instance, expressed his excitement by saying, “Can’t wait to see Sentry in action! He looks fantastic. We’ve been needing a top-tier villain.” A similar level of enthusiasm was observed on YouTube with TheNerdsAreComing commenting, “VOID? SENTRY? WE’RE WINNING WITH THIS ONE!
But some are skeptical
As a fellow Marvel enthusiast, I must admit that while many of us are thrilled about “Thunderbolts,” there’s a portion of fans who’ve voiced their dissatisfaction with the trailer’s vibe. User @quicksulver, for instance, remarked, “It’s feeling quite Suicide Squad-ish.” Essentially, what I gather from the comments is that they found the trailer’s tone to be overly comedic, or as others put it, reminiscent of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” series, known for its blend of humor and powerful action sequences intertwined with character development. A few viewers even questioned whether the film is meant to be a comedy altogether.
However, following initial doubts, numerous fans found themselves drawn in by the trailer’s appeal. Some enthusiasts have gone as far as predicting the film to be a standout of the year: “@SpiderStyle98” expressed, “I truly believe it’s going to be a sleeper hit that will astonish everyone.
Fans will find out if “Thunderbolts*” elates or bores them when the movie takes its bow on May 2.
