Bon Iver Announces New Album ‘SABLE, fABLE’

For the past few months, I’ve been eagerly awaiting news from Justin Vernon and his band Bon Iver. Finally, my patience has been rewarded! They’ve announced their first full album in six years – SABLE, fABLE. It’s set to drop on April 11th, exclusively through Jagjaguwar. I can hardly contain my excitement!

On Valentine’s Day itself, the debut single from the fresh album titled “Everything Is Peaceful Love” will make its premiere at 10am EST on the band’s official YouTube channel. Fans can register now to receive a notification when it goes live. The single features collaborative efforts between Vernon and filmmaker John Wilson, who is renowned for his HBO show “How To with John Wilson”, and together they have directed and edited the music video.

Bon Iver’s groundbreaking debut, titled “For Emma, Forever Ago“, was warmly received by audiences in 2006. Now, approaching two decades later, Vernon’s fifth studio album marks a new phase for the project, often referred to as “the conclusion” according to the press release. Although this term may seem ominous to fans, the new album is characterized as “a love story told through vibrant, glowing pop music”. If it indeed turns out to be their last complete album, it seems like an ideal way for them to conclude their musical journey.

SABLE, fABLE, created by Justin Vernon together with Jim E Stack, was primarily recorded in Wisconsin. The duo retreated to Vernon’s “April Base” studio, which had been under renovation for an extended period. The idea for the album supposedly originated in 2022 when Stack, along with Danielle Haim, visited “the Base”. They were then snowed in with Vernon for a few days.

On April 11, the 12-track album will be launched by Jagjaguwar, and you can pre-order it right away through this link.
