In a mere few days, the highly anticipated movie “Brave New World” starring Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as Captain America will hit theaters. The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) production has sparked excitement online with its first reactions. In this film, Wilson battles against the Serpent Society, led by Sidewinder (Giancarlo Esposito), and faces off against Tim Blake Nelson’s The Leader, who reappears from 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk,” along with Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk. Alongside “Brave New World,” the year is filled with other highly anticipated MCU movies like “Thunderbolts” and “Fantastic Four: First Steps,” as well as DC Studios’ “Superman.” However, does it meet these high expectations?
In a post, @HunterBVideo declared that “Captain America: Brave New World” emerged victorious. The suspenseful action intensifies in the latter part, but it’s essentially Sam Wilson’s journey as he grapples with the weight of the Captain America mantle. @tylerdisney12 was taken aback by their appreciation for the latest film, expressing that “Captain America: Brave New World exceeded expectations, with Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford delivering standout performances, particularly as Red Hulk.
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Releases on February 14
However, not everyone appreciated it. User @htranbui criticized the movie as a standard action film reminiscent of Netflix productions, commenting, “CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD: It seems like Marvel took the memo from Netflix about characters needing to verbalize every action so a distracted audience can follow along. The vibe is intense Disney+ series energy.” This view was echoed by @SirJeffNelson, who stated:
“I too found the movie lacking. It felt like a typical Netflix production with excessive dialogue to keep an attentive audience engaged. The atmosphere was overwhelmingly similar to a Disney+ series.
In my humble opinion, “Captain America: Brave New World” falls short as an engaging political thriller. The emotional tension feels haphazardly placed, and the narrative seems to rehash familiar plot twists without any real flair. Unfortunately, the path it sets forth fails to captivate, leaving me longing for a more compelling journey. And alas, the villain, though new in name, unfortunately blends into the forgettable roster of previous antagonists.
The movie titled “Captain America: Brave New World” is aiming to offer something different this Valentine’s Day, set to hit theaters on February 14th. So far, these are just early impressions from critics and social media influencers. Keep in mind that official reviews and the much-anticipated Rotten Tomatoes score might be released later today or tomorrow, depending on Marvel Studios’ confidence in the film. Be aware that delayed reviews often suggest potential concerns for an upcoming movie.
In addition to Anthony Mackie, the cast of “Captain America: Brave New World” includes Danny Ramirez, Harrison Ford, Giancarlo Esposito, Tim Blake Nelson, Liv Tyler, and Emily VanCamp. Originally, professional WWE wrestler Seth Rollins was set to appear in the film as part of the Serpent Society, but his role was ultimately cut from the final version to make room for Giancarlo Esposito’s villain. After “Brave New World,” Marvel fans won’t have to wait long before they rejoin the MCU with “Daredevil: Born Again,” which is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 5.
