Marvel Rivals: How to Counter Venom

Among Marvel Rivals’ characters, Venom is widely considered one of the strongest due to his substantial health reserve and unique abilities. As a Vanguard, he excels in this role with a robust health pool. His talent for self-healing combined with his capacity to deal significant damage up close makes him a formidable threat to his adversaries.

Due to the characteristics listed, it’s crucial to devise strategies that efficiently handle Venom, either neutralizing him temporarily or slowing him down for easier defeats. Luckily, while Venom excels in close-quarters combat, he falters against heroes capable of maintaining distance, stunning, or incapacitating him.

How to Counter Venom in Marvel Rivals

To effectively prevent Venom from wreaking havoc on the game board, players should select characters capable of keeping him at bay, hindering his ability to recuperate, or impeding his progress. Here are some heroes who excel in these roles:

1. Characters with long-range attacks can keep Venom at a distance, reducing his chances of getting close and causing damage.
2. Heroes that can debilitate Venom’s healing abilities will force him to rely on less efficient methods of recovery, making it easier for other characters to take him down.
3. Characters with crowd control abilities can slow down or immobilize Venom, giving other heroes an opportunity to attack without interruption.

Iron Man (Duelist)

In tight situations, Venom excels. He also delves deep into character development. Among all characters in Marvel Rivals, Iron Man stands out as one of the most effective counters for him. By maintaining an elevated position, Stark keeps Venom at bay while dishing out substantial damage to him.

As a gamer controlling Iron Man, I can tell you that his special abilities really pack a punch. For example, when I trigger Armor Overdrive, both my Repulsor Blast and Unibeam become devastating against Venom. Even with his regenerative powers, it’s tough for the Symbiote to keep up when I’m dealing that kind of damage.

If Venom manages to take the initiative over Stark, he can swiftly boost his speed with Hyper Speed Evasion, enabling a quick escape from Venom’s lethal combinations. Moreover, this action also weakens the Symbiote’s powers, making it simpler for teammates to counteract him.

To effectively fend off Venom, it’s crucial to maintain aerial positioning as his medium-range capabilities struggle to scale great heights efficiently.

Star-Lord (Duelist)

From a devoted fan’s perspective, as an ally to the Vanguard, you’ll often find Venom operating at the forefront, utilizing his healing abilities in tandem with those of his Strategists. To effectively balance this, choosing Star-Lord as your teammate is highly recommended.

By unleashing a continuous barrage of blasts, Star-Lord significantly boosts his damage against Venom. This prevents Venom from creating openings to flee or causing widespread destruction on the map. Moreover, it also poses a threat to healers attempting to support him from the rear lines.

As a fan myself, I’d say one fantastic perk of picking Star-Lord is his mobility. It comes in handy in two situations. Firstly, when Venom catches you off guard and it’s crucial to flee, you can utilize Star’s Rocket Boost to make a swift escape. Secondly, for strategic positioning. Sometimes, charging head-on against enemies isn’t the wisest move, that’s when you should reposition and find advantageous angles instead.

Star-Lord stands out as an ideal choice for beginners due to his relatively simpler learning curve when compared to other characters in the game.

The Punisher (Duelist)

The character known as The Punisher is an ideal choice for beginners, standing out with his high damaging capabilities against opponents. Although Venom is challenging to defeat due to his robust health and the skills he possesses, The Punisher can effectively handle him for two key reasons:

1. His impressive damage output allows him to deal significant harm to Venom.
2. He exhibits certain strategies or tactics that make it possible for him to overcome Venom’s defensive abilities.

1. Initially, it’s his immense ability to inflict harm on his adversaries that stands out.

2. Additionally, he has a weapon called the Culling Turret, often referred to as such, which serves as an auxiliary firepower source, boosting his damage output against Venom.

When teamed up with characters such as Rocket, defeating The Punisher becomes even harder because he gains a substantial boost in firepower capabilities.

Similar to previous characters, The Punisher possesses unique skills that enable him to evade Venom if Venom manages to overpower him. By using his Grapple Gun, The Punisher can install zip lines across the map, enabling him not only to retreat when in danger but also to secure strategic positions of advantage.

Wolverine (Duelist)

Wolverine tends to confront Venom differently from what we previously outlined, as he excels in up-close fighting. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, Wolverine’s unique combination of rapid healing and high damage potential make him an impressive adversary for Venom.

In the struggle against Symbiote, Wolverine can employ destructive sequences such as the swift and powerful Feral Leap and the ferocious Vicious Rampage to significantly reduce Venom’s health, often before he has a chance to recuperate. Moreover, Wolverine’s agility makes it simple for him to evade Venom effortlessly.

As a gamer controlling Wolverine, one of the coolest perks he’s got is his knack for growing stronger with each blow I take. If Venom keeps on attacking Logan, it’s basically digging its own grave. Not only that, but this trait can also be used to lure Venom into dealing more damage, making my character even tougher against the Symbiote. Given my healing abilities and capacity to absorb some of Venom’s attacks, I can trick him into dishing out damage on me, which in turn makes me stronger.

Peni Parker (Vanguard)

Among the few Marvel Rivals’ Vanguards who can match up against Venom, Peni Parker stands out, and for a solid reason. Unlike Venom, she doesn’t possess immediate healing powers like a Symbiote, but instead, she boasts a unique feature – Bionic Spider Nest. This bionic nest enables her to recover health gradually, thus helping Peni mitigate some of the damage inflicted by Venom.

Furthermore, she has the ability to stop Venom’s advance using her Cybernetic Web Trap, creating an opportunity for her and her teammates to attack the Symbiote Advance Guard with ease.
