heads up: Plot twists from the 11th episode of Matlock’s first season titled “A Traitor in Thine Own House” may be revealed. If you’re not fully caught up on the show, consider yourself forewarned!
2025 TV lineup holds an exciting era of suspense and unexpected turns, blended with a dash of humor to keep things lively. This is the vibe Kathy Bates’ acclaimed revival of Matlock exudes, and recently, the drama has intensified. Last week, Sarah Yang experienced a heart-wrenching turn when she formed a potentially dangerous bond that could jeopardize Madeline Kingston’s double life.
Shae Banfield And Sarah Yang New Alliance Against Matty Is On Pause
In a nutshell, when you combine an ambitious newcomer who’s been snubbed with a truth-telling expert, the scenario resembles Shae Banfield (Yael Grobglas) joining forces with Sarah Yang (Leah Lewis). Both women question the integrity of Matty Matlock (Kathy Bates), and this shared mistrust has driven them to dig deeper into the enigmatic aspects of her legal background.
In the most recent installment of Matlock, these two shrewd women join forces to delve into matters mutually important to them. Remarkably, Shae embarks on a journey to Savannah, Georgia in search of a promising lead that could overshadow Matty’s evolving job responsibilities.
Instead of her, Madeline had purposely left behind the breadcrumbs. Her spouse, Edwin (Sam Anderson), played the part of an old acquaintance, which placed Matty in a favorable position.
It seems that all Shae’s work only leads to further repercussions following Matlock‘s emotional Christmas special, with a report being filed to HR and Howard “Senior” Markston (played by Beau Bridges) making an appearance at the end of the episode for a chat with Matty. For now, Shae asks Sarah to give Matty some space, which leads Sarah to seek guidance from Olympia (portrayed by Skye P. Marshall).
This week’s case file might seem to suggest that the two characters in question have stopped their pursuit of revealing Madeline’s real identity, but I strongly doubt that. In fact, Shae Banfield is on the verge of playing a significant role in the intricate plot of Matlock, given some fresh information that has recently surfaced.

The Welbrexa Mystery Continues To Center Around Shae Banfield
In my recent speculation regarding the mystery behind the vanishing Welbrexa files in the Matlock series, Shae Banfield has moved up as a key figure under scrutiny. Although Madeline Kingston continues to view Julian Markston (Jason Ritter) as the prime suspect due to his aspirations and familial connections, the significance of Shae’s role in this case has gradually become more apparent.
It became even more evident tonight when it was disclosed that prior to switching jobs, Ms. Banfield was employed in Marketing at Welbrexa, and subsequently took on the role of an in-house consultant for Jacobson Moore. This implies that the missing documents could potentially be marketing resources.
It appears that Julian’s refusal to conduct a thorough financial audit during his divorce from Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) could suggest some questionable financial dealings in the purchase of their brownstone. This implies that the suspicion surrounding Senior’s son might not be entirely unfounded, as there may still be issues to address.

I’m simply pointing out a word of warning due to my cryptic conversation with Howard Markston (Beau Bridges) at the end of “A Traitor in Thine Own House.” Since Matty’s query about Shae potentially having information on him hit home, it seems plausible that The Meerkat may be aware of the identity of the mysterious woman in the photo from Sydney.
Regardless of how you look at it, Shae Banfield appears to be trouble. Madeline Kingston may need to exercise extra caution around additional colleagues at Jacobson Moore, and I suspect Sarah is biding her time before making a move. Feel free to challenge my assessment if you’ve spotted any signs I might have missed while researching.
As a film buff, I’ve wrapped up our weekly dive into the legal dramedy of Matlock for now. We’ll reunite next Thursday at 9 PM ET, when the episode titled “This is That Moment” graces our screens on CBS. Until then, I’m off to assemble my own mystery board, codenamed “Shae Watch,” to crack open some secrets of my own!
