On February 20th, it’s confirmed that Will Smith will perform for the first time at the Univision awards show, Premio Lo Nuestro, which is set to air live.
The award-winning artist, who has just won a Grammy, is set to make his stage debut at the show, where he’ll perform his freshly released duet titled “First Love” with Spanish singer-songwriter India Martínez. This performance will be a first for the rapper in this particular program and will also serve as the television premiere of this brand new track.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be performing alongside Martinez, DJ Khaled, and Thalia (who was previously announced), along with Miami Sound Machine, at the opening of this year’s 37th edition of the show! Can’t wait for this amazing lineup!
The live broadcast of the awards show will start at 7 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) or 8 p.m. Central Time (CT), and it can be watched on Univision, UNIMÁS, and ViX.
Lately, Smith has come back to the music scene, unveiling multiple songs like “Work of Art” together with Russ and Jaden, “Beautiful Scars” alongside Big Sean, and “You Can Make It,” featuring Sunday Service Choir and Fridayy, which climbed to the top spot on the Gospel Airplay chart. Additionally, tunes such as “First Love” will be part of his upcoming solo album titled “Based on a True Story“, slated for release next month.
The actor who clinched an Oscar, and just this past summer starred in the blockbuster movie “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” has lately discussed his upcoming musical comeback.
For me, music serves as a more authentic outlet where I can convey feelings that I might not express otherwise. It allows me to share moments of uncertainty, melancholy, and even anger. In my public life, I’ve always strived to avoid appearing sad or angry, but now I’m learning to be more honest with myself, acknowledging that while I enjoy life immensely, there are times when I feel sadness and get frustrated too.
As part of the musical pair DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, Will Smith achieved a historic milestone when they received the first-ever Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance at the 1989 ceremony for their song “Parents Just Don’t Understand.
The following artists are scheduled to perform at the Premio Lo Nuestro: Alejandra Guzmán, Alejandro Fernández, Alejandro Sanz, Ángela Aguilar, Arthur Hanlon, Beéle, Belinda, Becky G, Camilo, Carín León, Danny Ocean, Darell, El Alfa, Emilia, Gordo, Grupo Frontera, Guaynaa, Ha*Ash, Kapo, La India, Laura Pausini, Los Ángeles Azules, Manuel Turizo, Marc Anthony, Natti Natasha, Niña Pastori, Oscar Maydon, Piso 21, Prince Royce, Reik, Sergio George, Shakira, Silvester Dangond, Tito Double P, Venesti, Xavi, and Yotuel.
