As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that industry veterans Wendy Reeds and Ashley Stern have recently joined forces with Patrick Wachsberger at his expanding production and sales company, 193. This dynamic duo is set to strengthen the indie film lineup of this esteemed organization. The announcement was made on the first day of Berlin’s European Film Market last Friday.
With a background of 16 years at Lionsgate, where she previously collaborated with Wachsberger during his term as motion picture group chairman, she takes on the role of executive vice president for sales. Throughout her time at Lionsgate, she was responsible for international licensing deals for prominent franchises such as John Wick and The Hunger Games. Additionally, she played a crucial role in Lionsgate’s expansion into Asia by establishing partnerships with Hunan TV and iQIYI.
Having served 16 years at Lionsgate and having worked alongside Wachsberger during his tenure as motion picture group chairman, she now assumes the position of executive vice president for sales. During her time at Lionsgate, she managed international licensing contracts for major franchises like John Wick and The Hunger Games, while also driving the studio’s growth in Asia through alliances with Hunan TV and iQIYI.
In her new position as Executive Vice President, Creative Affairs Head, Stern is continuing a partnership that started in 2019 at Picture Perfect Federation, following her successful role as executive producer for the hit Paramount+ series “The Agency” featuring Michael Fassbender. She is also currently involved in producing upcoming projects such as “Charlie Harper” starring Emilia Jones and Nick Robinson.
As a dedicated admirer, I’m thrilled to share the exciting news about the expansion plans for 193, the groundbreaking venture backed by Legendary that was born from the Oscar triumph of CODA, masterminded by none other than Wachsberger himself. Our vision is not only to create our own compelling content but also to collaborate with external producers, offering financial support and leveraging our global reach to amplify premium independent productions.
Wendy and Ashley are two top performers in our field, and having them join us now boosts my conviction that 193 will excel,” stated Wachsberger. “The global marketplace for production and sales offers a remarkable chance for 193 to establish a leading collection of superior films, captivating audiences worldwide.
As a devoted follower, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be reporting directly to Wachsberger, given our company’s aggressive expansion of theatrical releases aimed at global viewers.
Reeds expressed excitement about joining the team at this critical juncture as the company experiences rapid expansion and emerges as a leader in independent film on a global scale. It’s a privilege to work alongside Patrick, who has built an impressive and well-earned reputation in our field, and I’m eager to assist him during this period of growth for the company.
Stern commented: ‘It’s been a privilege and pleasure to work alongside Patrick for quite some time now. I am thrilled to announce our ongoing partnership as we embark on project 193. Our combined efforts aim to fulfill the high demand for top-tier independent films, collaborating with the finest talents and industry leaders. Together, we strive to create content that is deep, distinctive, and pulse-pounding, resonating universally.’
