Given the immense success of Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane‘s movie Sanam Teri Kasam, the director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru revealed plans for a sequel, delighting fans. However, producer Deepak Mukut brought up copyright issues, claiming ownership over the film’s creative rights. In response, Vinay Sapru stated that there is no animosity between them, as they are all part of the same team.
During an interview with Hindustan Times, Vinay Sapru mentioned that Sanam Teri Kasam starts with a flashback and originally planned to produce two parts of the movie. He disclosed that they initially wanted to release the second part first, but for unknown reasons, they couldn’t proceed with it.
Regarding the persistent debate about the upcoming sequel, Sapru clarified, “For quite some time, no one had expressed interest in it until recently. The misunderstanding stemmed from interviews. Let me make it clear: A new tale of love and pledges is set for release on Valentine’s Day 2026, but we haven’t officially announced a movie production yet. I can’t help but wonder, why would I be so self-centered to announce prematurely?
He went on to express his feelings, stating that he deeply appreciates his group of creators, including the producers and directors. Additionally, the director declared that Producer Deepak Mukut is more than just an acquaintance; they consider each other friends, and in fact, they dined together on Monday evening.
When asked about Deepak potentially returning for the sequel of Sanam Teri Kasam, Sapru replied with certainty, “Don’t you think so? We are working as a team. Our journey continues together.
For those unfamiliar, in a recent conversation with Bollywood Hungama, movie producer Deepak Mukut clarified that he owns the intellectual property (IP) of the film Sanam Teri Kasam. He stated that it’s his prerogative to produce a sequel or prequel.
The producer confirmed that he had revealed plans for a sequel featuring Harshvardhan Rane as the main character back in September 2024, but he has yet to engage in talks with potential directors. In his own words, “I haven’t had a meeting or discussion with any director about it. I have not made a decision on who will direct the project.
The romantic film Sanam Teri Kasam made a comeback on February 7, 2025, almost nine years since it first hit the screens.
