How To Climb The Tago’s Tower In Avowed

As you progress through the primary storyline of Avowed, not only will you unveil diverse new areas, but you’ll also become familiar with each region as you explore them. Along your journey in various regions, you may stumble upon numerous side missions. Some of these side quests might even influence elements of the main storyline.

In the Shatterscarp region, you’ll encounter the “Don’t Look Down” mission. This involves scaling a challenging tower and making a choice regarding Katoa and Haiako at its summit. The ascent will not be an effortless task.

How To Get Don’t Look Down Quest

To obtain the Don’t Look Down quest, make your way towards the Shark’s Teeth region located on the northeastern part of Shatterscarp. This area has two primary access points; however, it is crucial that you choose the one to the south because the quest can only be found at this specific entrance.

At the entrance, you’ll come across an NPC named Moapo who will inform you about a group of individuals successfully overpowering multiple Dreamthralls simultaneously. He requests your assistance in supplying them with necessary items so they can continue their efforts. Once you accept this quest, your initial task is to locate the tower that requires ascending.

How To Climb Tago’s Tower

As per Moapa’s description, the structure in question is known as the Tago Tower, situated on the western border of Shark’s Teeth. Following the quest, direct yourself northward and select the path to your left for an effortless approach to this tower. Upon arrival, you’ll spot a narrow trail leading from the right side of the tower.

Follow this route to reach the area where you’ll find a large window with a step below it. Ascend the step, and you can shatter the window either by employing an Eye of Rymrgand or a tool that inflicts frost damage, thus opening the way into the tower for you.

As you make your way from the tower’s front to its back, there will be multiple traps along the route that you’ll need to handle.

Be cautious of tripwires on the ground and tiny rock-like formations, as they might be hidden switches triggering a trap.

Upon entering the tower, start by making your way down completely in order to unlock the main door. Then, leverage the architectural elements and the ladder to ascend once more. At this point, you’ll find raised platforms along the tower’s side walls that are conveniently accessible for climbing.

Keep in mind that navigating through these platforms and the journey ahead may contain hidden dangers. As you leap from one section to another, be cautious as these hidden traps could cause significant harm. You can deactivate them effortlessly by approaching one of their attachment points while maintaining a safe distance.

As you ascend and approach the summit, you’ll spot a yellow handle that disables all the traps within the tower. Continue climbing, and eventually, you’ll surmount some wooden planks at the peak before discovering a ladder leading to the two individuals you’re seeking.

What Should You Do With Katoa And Haiako?

As you traverse the tower and come across numerous Aedyran corpses, it will become clear that the dozen slain individuals are not Dreamthralls, but rather desperate Aedyrans attempting to scale the tower. When you encounter Katoa and Haiako at the summit, you’ll face a choice between two possibilities:

  • You can either talk with them and get them to leave the tower without violence, which won’t give you any rewards but will save two lives. If you want to do this, you’ll either have to do the hidden quest in Scaedclef or recruit Yatzli so she can convince them.
  • On the other hand, every other dialogue option will lead you to a fight with the two. While this will lead to you killing them, you can get a bunch of currency and some exceptional gear from their bodies.

No matter what choice you make, you’ll be able to unlock the golden chest situated atop the tower, which holds the one-of-a-kind armor of Thirdborn Brigandine Jack.

Or simply:

You can access the golden chest at the top of the tower no matter your choice, and inside you’ll find the unique armor of Thirdborn Brigandine Jack.
