Hulu is heading back to Paradise.
The captivating series created by Dan Fogelman, who is also known for his role in This Is Us, featuring Sterling K. Brown, has been granted a second season extension by the streaming service before the end of its first season’s finale.
This week saw the release of episode six out of eight for “Paradise”. The grand finale is set to drop on March 4. After that, starting from April 7 at 10 p.m., we’ll be able to catch the full first season run of “Paradise” on ABC. I can hardly wait!
In the peaceful haven of an exclusive neighborhood populated by influential figures worldwide, serenity is shattered when a chilling murder takes place and sets off a thrilling investigation. The series features Agent Xavier Collins, played by Brown, reuniting with Fogelman from ‘This Is Us’.
James Marsden, Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Jon Beavers, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Krys Marshall, Aliyah Mastin, Percy Daggs IV, and Enuka Okuma complete the ensemble of actors in this production.
Initially advertised as a political thriller, Paradise surprisingly unveiled its major twist in the very first episode. In his review without revealing any spoilers, The Hollywood Reporter’s main TV critic Dan Feinberg stated, “From quite early on, Paradise makes its intentions clear and doesn’t play games much after that.” (Explore THR’s spoiler discussions on the premiere and subsequent episodes).
Fogelman has disclosed that he’s devised a three-part strategy for “Paradise,” which he’s already plotted out. Although there are similarities to recent happenings, the concept for the series originated when Fogelman was working on “This Is Us.” When he discussed his grand plan with The Hollywood Reporter at the start of the season, he hinted at a memorable seventh episode and a finale that is likely to include unexpected twists.
He shared that the series will span over three exciting seasons, each with its unique flavor while maintaining continuity and featuring familiar characters. The storylines include unexpected twists and turns throughout, and the seventh episode serves as a self-contained story within the larger narrative. As we progress into season two, there’s a slight shift in direction, but one that I believe will keep viewers engaged. Rest assured, there are major developments on the horizon.
Additionally, he assured that the final episode would provide answers to the major questions posed in season one: “By the conclusion of the eighth installment, all queries arising from the initial few episodes should be resolved. This will pave the way for a fresh question and adventure that will propel us into the second season.
In a recent conversation with THR, Shahi, who portrays Dr. Gabriela Torabi on the show, opened up about some discussions regarding her character for season two. This week, in episode six, she delved into these topics further. [Caution: Spoilers to follow.]
In its first week, the series titled Paradise garnered a total of 7 million views on Hulu in the U.S., and on Disney+ internationally, as reported by the streaming service itself. Since its debut, it has consistently ranked among Hulu’s Top 15 most-watched shows.
The first season of Paradise is overseen by executive producers such as Fogelman, Brown, John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, John Hoberg, Jess Rosenthal and Steve Beers. This series originates from 20th Television and is exclusively available on Hulu.
