The genre of superheroes remains extremely trendy, as numerous interconnected film universes vie for dominance at the box office. Zack Snyder initially launched the DCEU (currently available with a Max subscription), but that franchise has now concluded, and co-CEO James Gunn is commencing a new one. Recently, Snyder and Gunn shared a photo together, causing fans to speculate whether the director of Man of Steel might contribute to one of the upcoming DC films.
The new DC Universe’s first slate of projects is titled Gods and Monsters, and will begin its life in theaters with James Gunn’s Superman movie. There’s always some chatter from fans hoping that Warner Bros. will #RestoreTheSnyderVerse and given the titular filmmaker the chance to film his two Justice League sequels. That chatter will no doubt be buoyed thanks to Gunn’s Instagram post with his fellow superhero director, check it out below:

Isn’t that lovely? Despite their past affiliations with DC, there’s no indication of rivalry between these two creatives. In fact, it appears they hold each other in high regard.
- If only the DC fandom can be this mature- @antoniohernandez
- He gonna direct a DCU elseworlds film? @gordiesgram
- Hopefully there is peace. No more Gunn v Snyder hate @_tylerhodge_
- Here’s an idea, give @zsnyderofficial his old Justice League lineup back and have him turn it into The Crime Syndicate in your new DCU! Cavill as Ultraman, Affleck as Owlman and Gadot as Super Woman would be beyond perfect!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 @waynenhorne
- Please, he needs to direct one DCU movie @yuriapsy
Absolutely, it hasn’t been confirmed yet that they’re planning a DC collaboration. However, James Gunn is shaping the creative direction for the studio, working on a connected universe encompassing films, television, animation, and video games.
People who have followed the DC films in sequence will recall that the DCEU’s development was significantly shaped by Zack Snyder. His film “Man of Steel” marked the beginning, and he played a crucial role in expanding the shared universe with both “Batman v Superman” and “Justice League.” Notably, the creation of “Justice League” had an unusually complex journey, continuing to evolve even long after its initial premiere.
Following numerous fan petitions over the years, Warner Bros. permitted the director of “300” to finish and distribute “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” a truer representation of his initial concept. This version hinted at potential future plotlines had sequels been produced. Though some viewers were content with watching this film, others continue to urge the studio for two additional movies from him. However, there’s currently no evidence suggesting these films will be released, especially not in the 2025 movie schedule.
