Actor Rajkummar Rao is gearing up to star in a biographical movie centered around the life of the ex-captain of the Indian cricket team, Sourav Ganguly. This film, which has been generating buzz for some time, was recently confirmed by the cricketer himself on the internet. Moreover, he also shared when audiences can expect to see this movie in theaters.
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but share my excitement as I recount Sourav Ganguly’s recent media interaction in Bardhaman, West Bengal. The legendary former Indian cricket captain and ex-BCCI president himself revealed details about his much-anticipated biopic! He’s confirmed that the talented Rajkummar Rao will headline the film, and it seems we’ll have to wait for more than a year until its release, given the complications with scheduling dates. I can hardly contain my eagerness to witness this remarkable tale unfold on the big screen!
According to reports from ANI, it appears that Rajkummar Rao may portray the main character in an upcoming film. However, due to scheduling conflicts, it seems the movie won’t be released for over a year.
Notably, this news is significant due to its connection to a movie project where actors such as Ayushmann Khurrana, Ranbir Kapoor, and others were rumored to be in contention for leading roles. Previously, the film centered around the life of Srikanth Bolla, a visually-impaired entrepreneur who founded Bollant Industries, had Rao as its lead actor. Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, the cast also included Jyothika, Alaya F, and Sharad Kelkar in pivotal roles. Rao’s captivating portrayal of Bolla received widespread acclaim for its authenticity.
Contrastingly, the actor from Street 2 also showcased his cricket skills in the movie “Mr & Mrs Mahi” with Janhvi Kapoor, under the direction of Sharan Sharma.
Moving forward, it’s been announced that Rajkummar will act alongside Wamiqa Gabbi (known for her role as Baby John) in Bhool Chuk Maaf. The teaser for this upcoming family comedy-drama was released recently and features both main characters setting a wedding date. However, things take an amusing turn when Rajkummar’s character gets trapped in the details of the date selection.
Under the guidance of director Karan Sharma, this upcoming movie will be brought to you by producer Dinesh Vijan, under his production house Maddock Films, in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. The film is scheduled for a theater release on April 10, 2025.
Besides what’s already mentioned, he is also working on a collaborative project, a debut home production film titled “Toaster,” co-starring Sanya Malhotra.
