A freshly acquitted A$AP Rocky isn’t wasting any time in getting back to work.
Rapper and business tycoon who was acquitted in a Los Angeles trial over a gun incident with ex-friend A$AP Relli in 2021, has been appointed as Ray-Ban‘s first creative director. According to the renowned eyewear company, this role will involve Rocky using his unique perspective to influence Ray-Ban Studios, overseeing creative projects, and molding the future of the brand’s identity and design.
With Ray-Ban under his guidance, the Blacked Out Collection will debut in April. This collection is rumored to be a revamped version of their Mega Icons line, featuring an innovative new lens design. In the near future, we can anticipate additional designs as Rocky infuses his creative flair into various projects. Ray-Ban Studios, established in 2016, serves as a platform for blending music and artists’ narratives through its unique lens.
Rocky expressed his appreciation for how Ray-Ban manages to remain faithful to its core values while still innovating, stating this in a declaration. He’s thrilled about joining the powerful legacy of this iconic brand and contributing to writing the next page in Ray-Ban’s story.
The president of the company, Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, commended Rocky and exclaimed “it’s time for the future to start,” a sentiment that carries greater significance following his acquittal. In Del Vecchio’s words: “For close to 80 years, our brand has graced the visages of some of the most influential musicians, artists, actors, and role models – continually challenging and reshaping the norm. Today, we are delighted to welcome A$AP Rocky into our fold; he is a visionary artist and innovator. His talent for breaking boundaries in the varied realms he delves into mirrors the essence of Ray-Ban. We reaffirm the brand’s commitment to values such as innovation, pioneering spirit, and bravery.
As I stepped out of the LA courthouse for my trial, I was spotted rocking some Ray-Bans and Saint Laurent ensembles designed by Anthony Vaccarello. Being Rihanna’s long-term partner, it seems there are more fashion adventures on the horizon for me. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be co-chairing at the Met Gala alongside Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, Anna Wintour, and honorary chair LeBron James on May 5th. Additionally, I can’t wait to share my new album with you all, titled “Don’t Be Dumb.
