Alan Ritchson Gets Real About The Insanity Of Filming A New Season Of Reacher: ‘Truly These Are Champagne Problems.’

In his role as the lead in the highly anticipated TV series “Reacher” in 2025, actor Alan Ritchson has earned a reputation for pushing his physical limits to create captivating fight scenes. It’s not always about visible injuries and fractures; even the lack of sleep can be incredibly demanding on him. At times, rest is what truly rejuvenates him.

Presumably while in the midst of filming Season 3 of Reacher in and around Toronto, Ritchson recorded a video that he shared on Instagram that featured an anecdote about how quickly one’s plans can change, despite any and all feelings of fatigue due to work and travel delays and everything else under the sun. Here’s how he started the tale, soon making reference to his wife Catherine Ritchson:

Over the past few days, we’ve been working on nighttime filming sessions. Consequently, I’m absolutely exhausted. My flight was scheduled for one in the morning on Saturday. Due to a delay, I didn’t arrive home until midnight on Sunday. I have an early morning commitment at around five o’clock. Therefore, I plan to pack an overnight bag and catch some sleep during the two-hour drive to our filming location. I shared my intention with Cat, saying, “I think I’ll stay on the road this week. I’m so tired, I need to rest.” She responded understandingly, “Go ahead, do what you have to do.

Often, even the most carefully planned schemes of humans, mice, and Reacher’s stars can veer off course! Sometimes, they lead us to concerts instead. Ritchson added further.

Later on, I’ll ask her about her plans: ‘What does your day hold?’ To which she replied, ‘We have a babysitter tonight. I might opt to go out for dinner alone since we had tickets for James Arthur tonight, planning a little date. But considering you seem tired, you’re hitting the road.’ No criticism, she was very considerate.

At that moment, the post shifted into a scene reminiscent of SpongeBob SquarePants, with the Titans veteran and his partner enjoying themselves among other fans at a James Arthur concert – a setting that Cat Ritchson herself might have found forgiving. After all, what could be more delightful than watching such an event instead of getting hit by Olivier Richters.

While Reacher might make an ideal companion for a concert, given his constant travel, lack of gym routine, and flexible schedule, he could also be problematic as he often finds himself caught up in unexpected situations that may lead to concert cancellations, such as the arena exploding due to a mission he’s involved in. Therefore, it’s a mixed bag, with potential benefits and drawbacks.

In addition to his Instagram video, Alan Ritchson posted a caption highlighting that he acknowledges his complaints are tied to privilege.
