Jason Statham Is Back for ‘The Beekeeper 2’

Jason Statham is returning to the hive for a sequel to action thriller The Beekeeper.

The upcoming project is a sequel to the 2024 movie that centers around a former intelligence agent who was part of an enigmatic group called the Beekeepers. Following the tragic demise of his cherished landlady due to a fraudulent email scam, he embarks on a path of retribution.

Miramax will be responsible for both producing and financing the upcoming film, with production scheduled to start in the autumn. Timo Tjahjanto, known for his work on the upcoming action movie “Nobody 2,” has been appointed as the director, replacing David Ayer. Screenwriter Kurt Wimmer is set to return for this sequel.

Statham will create a project under his banner Punch Palace Productions, together with Chris Long from Long Shot Productions.

The movie titled “The Beekeeper” earned a remarkable sum of approximately $153 million worldwide and garnered mostly favorable criticism. Actors like Emmy Raver-Lampman, Minnie Driver, Josh Hutcherson, and Jeremy Irons graced the screen in this film.

The review from The Hollywood Reporter about the movie states: “Observing the action hero with a bullet-shaped head defeat teams of government officials and violent mercenaries, primarily without weapons, is enjoyable. It might be even more entertaining in IMAX.
