The Bollywood movie “Chhaava,” based on the life of Maratha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji, is still drawing big crowds at the box office. Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal, who stars as the main character, had a humorous interaction with legendary singer Asha Bhosle that garnered attention at a recent event. At the event, he revealed the amusing explanation behind her saying “tauba tauba” upon meeting him, and it’s bound to make you laugh out loud!
At the event, Vicky Kaushal had a funny incident when renowned singer Asha Bhosle was startled to see him present to recite poetry. He reminisced, “Asha ma’am was seated over there. She looked at me in shock and asked, ‘Are you also going to recite poetry?’ I replied, ‘Yes’.
Upon his confirmation, she appeared even more taken aback and exclaimed, “Is that Marathi you just spoke? I said ‘yes.’ Poor Asha ma’am reacted with a surprised ‘Oh dear, oh dear.’
At the gathering, Vicky Kaushal’s thoughtful actions were particularly notable as he humbly paid respect to Asha Bhosle by touching her feet, shared a friendly hug with MNS chief Raj Thackeray, and received a passionate welcome from Riteish Deshmukh, who playfully kissed him. Sonali Bendre could also be seen sharing a warm embrace with the actor on stage.
The movie titled “Chhaava,” directed by Laxman Utekar following a two-year break, premiered on Valentine’s Day in 2025. Featuring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, this film has been reigning at the box office. Based on the Marathi novel “Chava,” it is an action-drama set in history that explores the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the brave heir to the Maratha empire.
In this production, it falls to Vicky to assume the part of the esteemed warrior figure, with Rashmika portraying his wife, Yesubai Bhonsale. Notably, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta are also part of the impressive cast, taking on significant roles.
As a devoted admirer, I’d say it’s Vicky Kaushal who truly shines among the talented actors of our time. Kicking off his cinematic journey with Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana back in 2012, although the critics lauded the film, it didn’t make a substantial impact at the box office. However, he has since then racked up significant successes such as Uri: The Surgical Strike and Bad News. Now, with Chhaava, his box office reign has soared to new heights.
The film produced by Maddock Films is breaking records and looks set to gather a staggering 400 crore INR at the box office in India, equaling the achievement of Aamir Khan’s Dangal. This success firmly establishes Chhaava as a pivotal point in Kaushal’s career. Given its current trajectory, surpassing 500 crore INR seems plausible, signifying an exceptional victory for the entire crew, particularly the leading actor. Next up, he will appear alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in Love & War.
