It’s worth mentioning that it’s only been a few weeks since Season 2 was unveiled, and Netflix is known to scrutinize viewership statistics over extended periods before deciding on renewals.

In a chat with Deadline, The Recruit’s creator Alexi Hawley shares optimism about the possibility of a third season. He mentioned that he has ideas brewing for another season and feels “extremely hopeful” about the show getting renewed for Season 3.

I’m eagerly anticipating Netflix’s move on the project. There’s a strong sense of goodwill towards the show and Noah within Netflix. From what I gather, they view Noah as a homegrown talent, which he undeniably is. Consequently, I’m feeling quite optimistic about it, as optimistic as one can be in this industry at this moment.

What Could ‘The Recruit’ Season 3 Be About?

In “The Recruit” Season 2, I found myself pushed to the brink, with the challenges escalating significantly for my character. The primary objective was to rescue Nan Hee (Sanghee Lee), the wife of Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent Jang Kyun (Teo Yoo), who had been kidnapped by the Yakuza. This rescue mission served as a pivotal moment, allowing me to grow and evolve as a character. It suggests that future seasons might present audiences with a more mature, seasoned version of myself.

As the season concludes, it marks the start of new connections – such as the bond between Jang Kyun and Owen, and Owen’s connection with Yoo Jin Hee. The final moments see Owen tricking Nichka, saving both Jang Kyun and Nan Hee at the brink of despair. The happenings in Season 2 pave the way for intriguing possibilities in a potential Season 3.

Hawley has hinted that he designed some elements from Season 2 with the intention of leading into Season 3. For example, the last scene where Owen is seen grinning on top of the submarine, only for his smile to fade away, is intended to foreshadow Owen’s future involvement with the CIA in Season 3. The show’s creator has also expressed a desire to explore more about Jang Kyun and his spouse in the future, suggesting that they might make an appearance in future seasons. Moreover, audiences can anticipate finding Owen in a completely new location and setting in a potential Season 3, as suggested by Hawley.

Filming overseas certainly sounds appealing, though I haven’t decided on the location just yet. After exploring Russia and Korea, I’m drawn to less-frequently visited regions like Latin America or Africa. American audiences don’t often encounter African stories, but I believe it would be captivating to delve into that untapped territory.

The Cast of ‘The Recruit’ Season 3 May Have Many Familiar Faces

If the show comes back for another season, it’s very likely that many familiar characters, including Centineo alongside series regulars Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Maddie Hasson, and Kristian Brunn, will reappear.

Additionally, Hawley has mentioned his desire to include Teo Yoo, a fresh face from the series, in future seasons. In an interview with TVLine, he stated, “He’s definitely someone I want on our team.” However, as Jang Kyun’s character originates from the NIS, it remains uncertain if his return would positively impact a potential plotline.

If “The Recruit” gets renewed for Season 3, it’s reasonable to anticipate that the season will debut around the year 2026. Despite some delays experienced in Season 2, a sneak peek posted on social media hinted at an original release date of 2024, suggesting that Netflix typically needs about 12 to 18 months for “The Recruit” productions. Consequently, if a third season is greenlit, viewers might be looking forward to watching it in the spring or summer of 2026.
