1) “What’s considered luxurious can vary greatly.” To remind us of this, Moschino made it a point during their Fall/Winter 2025 runway show. Sometimes, fashion shows can be weighed down by their own gravity, but when you least expect it, three weeks into the endless fashion month marathon, Moschino comes along to bring some cheer.
As we approached the show, Moschino shared sneak peeks on various social media platforms. One video showed a model carrying out trash with a bag labeled “C’est Trash Chic!”, which has solidified Moschino’s reputation for fun and playfulness over time. In another clip, unseen hands used a large needle to stitch faux basting onto a suit jacket, only to have the runway open later.
In the lead-up to the event, Moschino released previews on their social media accounts. One of these showed a model disposing of trash with a bag labeled “C’est Trash Chic!”, establishing Moschino as a brand known for fun throughout its history. Another clip depicted faceless hands using an oversized needle to sew fake basting onto a suit jacket, followed by the runway opening later on.
As a passionate admirer, I’ve always been captivated by the unique vision of Adrian Appiolaza, the creative director at Moschino. Instead of succumbing to the commercial pressures that often follow such creative roles, he’s managed to ground Moschino in a charming, dreamlike realm. His designs are a delightful blend of eras, reminiscent of rummaging through a thrift store’s silhouette section, where each layer and pattern tells a story from a different decade.
In this scene, the characters wore baby doll dresses that were transformed into life-sized paper doll cutouts. A fashion designer carried a bag filled with cookies reminiscent of Pepperidge Farm Milanos, while a winemaker, wearing suspenders, held a bag containing a bottle of the 2025 Buon Moscvino.
Or, more concisely: The baby doll dresses were made into life-sized paper dolls, and characters carried props such as a Pepperidge Farm-style Milano cookie bag and a bottle-bag of the 2025 Buon Moscvino.
Head to toe, Moschino offers an eclectic mix of accessories such as lifelike spaghetti handbags, playful costume pearls, and even a polaroid photograph of a brooch adorning the model’s chest. Interestingly, it seems that the real brooch might have been misplaced under the couch cushions, but rest assured, a coordinating outfit has been created to match, including a miniature futon hat to top it off.
If you noticed more debris like lint and crumbs than precious gems in Moschino’s collection, it featured extravagant outfits made from trash bags, ranging from handbags to gowns and bustiers. But remember, as Apiolaza underscores through Alex Consani’s final look, a dress adorned with the phrase “Save our Planet”, even though fashion can be playful, we should always keep in mind its impact on waste.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to find myself immersed in Appiolaza’s artistic realm with the Moschino FW25 collection. It’s like strolling on air amidst the fluffy clouds, yet my feet are firmly rooted on solid ground, thanks to these extraordinary lug sole boots!
