Warning: This discussion contains plot details for the fourteenth episode of Season 2 from the NBC show “Found,” titled “Missing While Matched.” To watch it, you’ll need a subscription to Peacock.
On the 2025 TV lineup, Found has been consistently thriving with M&A activities, effectively filling the NBC time slot previously occupied by Law & Order: Organized Crime. An unexpected twist unfolded in an episode featuring Shanola Hampton and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, building anticipation beforehand. In this episode, Sir was arrested but chose not to provide a statement to the police that could have led to Gabi being incarcerated as well.
Although the surprising turn of events was captivating, it left us wondering about what would happen next in the story now that Sir is incapacitated: how could “Found” proceed with him out of action? The enigma surrounding Jamie has been a fascinating alternative plotline for Margaret, and “Missing While Matched” brought some substantial progressions to both narratives.
Found Raised More Questions Than Answers About Jamie
The joyful reception that should have greeted Jamie’s homecoming for the M&A family was overshadowed by Margaret’s lingering doubts about the authenticity of the young man who claimed to be her long-lost son. Dhan has expressed his skepticism most openly, whereas Gabi, Lacey, and Zeke have chosen a more diplomatic approach. Even Margaret herself seems uncertain about the situation, further complicated by her realization that Jamie’s abductor was someone she had known in the past.
Although she made a breakthrough, she’s clueless about the identity of the unknown person, and Jamie remains tight-lipped on who abducted him. The newest hints Jamie provided were to comfort his mom by stating that the kidnapper wouldn’t be endangering other kids, emphasizing that the kidnapper only wanted him. Margaret remembered something he had mentioned earlier and shouted “Nicholas” to see if it would get a reaction… and it did.
Am I understanding everything here? Not quite! In truth, throughout each episode, I find myself questioning whether this young man truly is Jamie, and “Missing While Matched” has only added more confusion about Margaret’s kidnapped son. Despite my uncertainty over the plotline involving her son, there’s one aspect I can confidently affirm: I’m thoroughly enjoying the Trent/Sir scenes.
Trent Is Keeping Sir Busy (And Mark-Paul Gosselaar On Screen)
It’s entertaining for me, who initially knew Mark-Paul Gosselaar as the clean-cut Zack on “Saved By the Bell” and Brett Dalton as the treacherous Grant Ward on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, to see their roles switched, with Gosselaar taking on a villainous role and Dalton portraying a hero. (Dalton has discussed how his characters often being perceived as villains is due to his work on “S.H.I.E.L.D.” and the character of Ward.)
Prior to the midpoint of Season 2, interactions between Sir and Trent were relatively sparse, except when Gabi was present. However, this dynamic shifted significantly in the latter episodes, particularly as Sir found himself isolated from Gabi, and Trent gained direct access to negotiate with him. In the preceding episode, Trent had to offer Sir a copy of “The Taming of the Shrew” to extract information about Christian, which arrived too late to prevent his demise… if indeed Sir’s brother is truly deceased.
In the drama “Missing While Matched,” there was a slight change in the balance of power. When Sir tried to contact Gabi first via phone, he found that she had beaten him to it. The only person who visited him was Trent, who confronted him directly about the situation.
It seems like there was a dispute with the guards that didn’t go well for you, Evans. It’s not wise to provoke those who are meant to safeguard you. I get it now. You’ve been trying to reach Gabi but she’s not responding. She won’t come to see you either. You thought if she found out you were injured, she would rush to help. [laughs, amused]
Sir wasn’t particularly pleased when he discovered Heavy Boots was his visitor. He instantly called for the guard to eject him. Given that he was forced to endure Trent’s speech afterward, isn’t it understandable that Sir reacted as he did? Agitated, Sir retaliated with a sharp response:
You chuckle presently, yet I assure you, I’ll reunite with Gabrielle. You may not comprehend it fully, but there’s a deep bond between us – we’re like family, and that bond is eternal. Take my word for it, she will return to me.
Although it’s unlikely anyone would concur with Sir on his statement that he and Gabi are considered “family,” it’s tough to refute his assertion that there is a strong connection between them, albeit not a positive one. By the end of the episode, Gabi was contemplating a visitation schedule and envisioning Sir lurking over her, urging her to “give in.” However, there’s optimism for her to keep her distance; she sought Ethan out as a potential therapist once she couldn’t ignore calls from Sir’s prison, and Ethan agreed, under the condition that they inform Dhan.
It seems like talking to Ethan might temporarily deter her from reaching out to Sir, but it won’t be a long-term solution. I’m in agreement with having Trent as the primary contact for Sir going forward. The dynamic between the actors is intriguing, and having Trent involved keeps Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s character on screen, even though he’s behind bars.
Catch what’s coming up next on “Found” as Sir is kept in custody, unable to follow Gabi, with new installments airing every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on NBC, following “Law & Order: SVU” and its current storyline twist involving a victim. You might even want to rewatch past episodes on Peacock to get a better grasp of the Jamie enigma as the Margaret saga continues to unfold with more twists and turns.
