The Diplomat star John Abraham admits his career is built on criticism; reveals ‘only thing’ that keeps him going

John Abraham is readying himself for the release of his upcoming movie titled The Diplomat, which is an exhilarating thriller based on true events and scheduled to premiere in cinemas on March 14. Looking back at his professional path, he admitted that constructive criticism has significantly impacted his career development. Furthermore, he expressed that the constant encouragement from the viewers serves as the main motivation for him to keep going strong.

In a chat with PTI, John Abraham shared thoughts about the comments made by critics regarding his career, particularly following his four-year break before ‘Parmanu.’ He admitted that such observations don’t phase him, as his career path in the industry has been influenced by constructive criticism. He expressed, “My career thrives on criticism; I find it invigorating.

Instead, he mentioned that it’s his audience who truly inspires him, not the metrics used by industry professionals to measure success. Although he acknowledges the importance of the business aspect in cinema, he attributes his determination and endurance to his fans.

In his own words, “It’s my fans who have been the ones keeping me going and helping me persevere, and I truly believe that ‘The Diplomat’ is a movie crafted with them in mind.

John Abraham expressed that his main goal, whether as an actor or a producer, is to bring captivating tales to life that resonate with a wide range of viewers. Although he recognizes the significance of aiming for box office earnings of Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore, and even more, he underscored that it is the attainment of success through exceptional storytelling that holds genuine importance to him.

He feels that the industry often places too much emphasis on financial matters and ought to place a greater importance on powerful storytelling instead. He found himself attracted to The Diplomat due to its captivating tale and geopolitical motifs, attributing the writing to Ritesh Shah.

In this movie, a significant topic is the hardships faced by women, and the actor emphasized the importance of enacting tougher laws to safeguard women, kids, and pets. He pointed out that transforming society can be a slow process, but it necessitates immediate attention and action for awareness to take hold.

For three weeks, John Abraham worked closely with acting coach Saurabh Sachdeva in preparation for playing the character of JP Singh. Additionally, he had a personal meeting with Singh himself to refine his depiction.

Currently, The Diplomat is supported by several production houses including JA Entertainment, T-Series, Wakaoo Films, Fortune Pictures, and Seeta Films. Originally slated for a release on March 7, the movie’s date has been changed to March 14 instead.

Drawing from genuine occurrences, this suspenseful tale centers around John Abraham portraying diplomat JP Singh, who embarks on a perilous venture to save an Indian woman named Uzma from the clutches of Pakistan.
