Netflix’s New Releases Coming in March 2025

Here are some exciting new additions coming to Netflix in March: Meghan Markle’s long-awaited entrance into lifestyle programming, a fresh take on Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s “The Leopard” as an epic TV series, the second film in the rapidly growing “SpongeBob” movie franchise, a new season of the popular motorsports documentary series, Anthony and Joe Russo’s latest big-budget production, and a witty whodunit mystery from Shondaland.

Making its premiere on March 4th is the Netflix lifestyle series titled With Love, Meghan, which is helmed by none other than Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex as both host and executive producer. Initially set to air on Jan. 15, the launch was delayed due to Los Angeles wildfires. This unscripted series, filmed at a farmhouse in Montecito, California, offers a mix of useful tips and intimate conversations with notable figures. The initial list of guests for the first season includes Roy Choi, Mindy Kaling, Abigail Spencer, Alice Waters, Vicky Tsai, and even Prince Harry.

On March 5th, Netflix will premiere a series that could potentially become a worldwide sensation. The Italian branch of Netflix has transformed Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s timeless novel, “The Leopard” (originally titled “Il Gattopardo”), into an epic period television production. This book was previously adapted for the silver screen by Luchino Visconti in a 1963 film titled “The Leopard,” which starred Burt Lancaster and won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Netflix’s opulent historical drama delves into the strife of the nobility during Italy’s unification in the 19th century. Directed by accomplished television director Tom Shankland, who has worked on shows like “The Fades” (2011), “Ripper Street” (2012), “The Missing” (2014) and the critically acclaimed “The Serpent” (2021).

On March 7th, Netflix debuts the newest addition to the vast SpongeBob Squarepants universe with the animated musical “Plankton: The Film.” This story centers around the persistent supervillain Plankton as he once again attempts to conquer the world. However, this time his plans are foiled by his intelligent supercomputer wife Karen. Directed by Dave Needham and penned by Kaz, Chris Viscardi, and Mr. Lawrence, this film is the second spinoff from the SpongeBob universe, following the 2024 Netflix release “Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie.

Additionally, starting on March 7th, you’ll find the seventh season of Netflix’s long-running sports documentary series Formula 1: Drive to Survive. Formula One enthusiasts can hardly wait as Netflix gives us a sneak peek into the world’s top motorsport event, where teams and drivers are in fierce competition for the 2024 Formula One World Championship. As usual, you can look forward to high-stakes drama and captivating behind-the-scenes action featuring stars like Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, Charles LeClerc, Max Verstappen, George Russell, and Carlos Sainz Jr.

On March 14th, the much-anticipated Netflix movie for the month, titled The Electric State, makes its grand entrance. Directed by the acclaimed filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo, this sci-fi action comedy drama boasts a star-studded cast that includes Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, and Ke Huy Quan. The movie is adapted from Simon Stålenhag’s impactful graphic novel and follows an alternate 1990s timeline, post a robot uprising, where a teenager orphaned seeks her brother across America alongside an eclectic group of companions. The ensemble also features Jason Alexander, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito, and Stanley Tucci.

Picture the scenario of “Only Murders in the Building,” but this time it’s the iconic White House that serves as the setting. This appears to be the basic premise of Netflix’s new original comedy mystery series, The Residence, set to debut on March 20. While the comparison may seem trivial, this Shondaland production is marketed as a humorous whodunnit with significant political implications. The synopsis goes like this: “132 rooms, 157 potential suspects, one deceased individual, and one unconventional detective make up the intrigue. Add to that a disastrous State Dinner.” The series seems promising based on its star-studded cast, which includes Giancarlo Esposito, Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Randall Park, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Julieth Restrepo, Mel Rodriguez, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Mary Wiseman as regulars. An impressive roster of guest stars is also on the cards. The series will be steered by three-time Emmy-winner Uzo Aduba.

Here are some movies that have been added to Netflix in March: Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, The Outrun, 50 First Dates, Beginners, Black Hawk Down, Blade Runner’s Final Cut, Blood and Bone, Do the Right Thing, Friday, High-Rise, The Holiday, Ma, National Security, Next Friday, Pride & Prejudice, Runaway Jury, See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Sicario, Ted, and Wedding Crashers.
