As a die-hard movie fan and proud alumnus of the Guardians of the Galaxy gang, I can’t deny that my family traditions sometimes take precedence over even the most epic action scenes. My father-in-law, Arnold Schwarzenegger – yes, THE Arnold Schwarzenegger – is a man who’s earned the title of Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) in more ways than one! Recently, I shared some insights about a cherished tradition he insists on maintaining, a tradition that occasionally leaves me in a bit of a tricky position.
On an episode of The Graham Norton Show, Chris Pratt spoke about the pressure he experiences regarding Arnold Schwarzenegger’s favorite hobby – cigar smoking. It seems that this tradition is also followed by Pratt during family celebrations, such as the arrival of a newborn baby. Despite his awareness of its unfavorable effects on him, Pratt finds it hard to resist participating in this custom.
He’s often seen puffing on cigars, whether it’s on set, in his car, or even in my living room. When we welcome a new baby, he typically brings a premium Cuban cigar for the occasion – a tradition, I suppose. Yet, despite having asthma and knowing I shouldn’t, I occasionally indulge due to the pressure from Arnold Schwarzenneger, my father-in-law. What can you do?
Chris Pratt, who’s been married to Katherine Schwarzenegger for more than five years and has three children with her, appreciates the symbolism of this cigar tradition, as it marks the arrival of a new family member. However, the star of “The Tomorrow War” admitted that there’s always a price to pay. Laughing, he shared:
Chris Pratt, who has been married to Katherine Schwarzenegger for over five years and shares three kids with her, finds the cigar tradition significant since it symbolizes the arrival of a new family member. Nevertheless, he admitted that it’s always accompanied by a cost. With a chuckle, he disclosed:
Every other two weeks, when a new child comes into our family, we celebrate with smoking a cigar. Unfortunately, this time around, I developed a lung infection approximately two weeks after the event. This is something of a tradition or custom we’ve established for ourselves.
It’s understandable that Pratt wouldn’t refuse, given it’s a family tradition and Arnold Schwarzenegger, a legendary figure like former Mr. Universe, is involved. It might be challenging for many to decline a cigar from such an esteemed actor in the film industry.
Since Chris Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019, there’s been a robust bond between the two prominent Hollywood figures. In an appearance on Graham Norton’s talk show, Pratt shared that he and his father-in-law (Arnold Schwarzenegger) enjoy playing chess together. The former California governor has consistently praised Chris Pratt, describing him as an outstanding husband and father. However, it appears that Arnold maintains the authority in family traditions.
In the upcoming movie “The Electric State” starring Chris Pratt, which will premiere on Netflix on March 14, 2025, it’s evident that he has much to be joyful about. Let’s hope he can raise a glass to future achievements with his father-in-law, avoiding any recurrences of respiratory issues.
