Despite Irrfan Khan‘s absence from Bollywood, his remarkable performances continue to resonate deeply among viewers, demonstrating his incredible versatility and acting prowess. His movies remain as captivating today as they were when first released, thanks to their timeless appeal. To celebrate his exceptional talent, TopMob recently conducted a poll to identify which of Khan’s films had the most profound impact on fans, and the results have been announced at last! Can you guess which film emerged victorious?
From February 27th, TopMob conducted a two-day poll to discover which Irrfan Khan film fans hold dearest. Among the options were The Lunchbox, Karwaan, Hindi Medium, Angrezi Medium, and Qarib Qarib Singlle.
After tallying all the ballots, The Lunchbox came out on top with an impressive 41.18% of the total votes. Hindi Medium wasn’t far behind, garnering 35.29%, and Karwaan also received a notable amount at 11.76%. Unfortunately, Qarib Qarib Singlle and Angrezi Medium received the least number of votes, with each film earning 5.88% of the total votes cast.
Let’s discuss the beautiful 2013 film, The Lunchbox, which was skillfully directed by Ritesh Batra. This movie is a heartwarming story about unforeseen connections. In this film, Irrfan Khan brilliantly played Saajan Fernandes, a lonely office worker who finds comfort in an extraordinary relationship that develops due to a mistaken lunchbox delivery. The movie gained worldwide acclaim, and Irrfan’s subtle performance added to its lasting impact as a masterpiece.
Simultaneously in 2017, a movie titled “Hindi Medium” unfolded the story of a pair from Delhi striving to get their daughter into an exclusive English-language school. Praised by critics for its wit, societal insights, and exceptional performances by Irrfan Khan and Deepak Dobriyal, this film truly shone.
As an absolutely smitten admirer, let me express how deeply moved I was by Irrfan’s breathtaking portrayal of Raj Batra in “Hindi Medium”. This character, a father grappling with the tension between societal norms and his yearning to provide his child with the finest opportunities, resonated profoundly. The way he skillfully blended heartfelt emotion with witty humor left me spellbound, turning Hindi Medium into an unparalleled success!
In third place in the survey, we have the film “Karwaan” – a touching road comedy-drama that premiered in 2018. Led by director Akarsh Khurana, this movie invites viewers on an eventful trip from Bangalore to Kochi. The unlikely trio of characters, portrayed by Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan, and Mithila Palkar, experience a chain of unforeseen events during their journey together.
In a captivating performance, Irrfan Khan portrayed Shaukat, an eccentric Bhopali mechanic, who effortlessly outshone everyone else due to his exceptional comedic delivery and profound insights about life.
