Boosting its numbers before making a comeback, the critically acclaimed Max comedy, which won an Emmy for Max, has announced the recruitment of 13 new guest stars for season 4. Among them are writers who will be working on Deborah Vance’s (Jean Smart) new late-night talk show.
I’m thrilled to see Julianne Nicholson, Michaela Watkins, Bresha Webb, Robby Hoffman, and Eric Balfour joining the main cast in this new series! Additionally, Danny Jolles, Gavin Matts, Grover Whitmore III, Holmes, Jasmine Ashanti, Katy Sullivan, Matt Oberg, and Sandy Honig have been brought on as guest writers for Deborah’s team. It seems like they’ll all be working under Hannah Einbinder’s character, Ava.
In the final episode of the third season, Ava coerced Deborah into securing the head writer position for her upcoming program. The tagline for the fourth season is quite cryptic, simply stating “tensions escalate as Deborah and Ava strive to launch their late-night show successfully and create history along the way.” Oh, the drama that unfolds!
The popular series “Hacks” will be back on our screens later this spring, following an exceptionally triumphant third season. Not only did Jean Smart secure her third consecutive award for Best Actress in a Comedy, but the show also outperformed stiff competition – such as “The Bear” – to clinch the top comedy title.
The original creators Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky remain in charge, and they’ve invited back several familiar faces alongside Smart and Einbinder. These include Downs himself, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Mark Indelicato, and Rose Abdoo, along with Dan Bucatinsky, Helen Hunt, Tony Goldwyn, Kaitlin Olson, Jane Adams, and Lauren Weedman for the upcoming season.
