Previously, Deniz Akdeniz’s character Chris, who is now a regular on “High Potential“, hadn’t appeared in “Ghosts” as it had not premiered at that time. However, due to the popularity of ABC’s hit series “The High Potential” which ended earlier this year, many viewers may recognize Akdeniz as Oz, the charming detective who collaborates with Kaitlin Olson’s Morgan. It came as a surprise to me this week when I discovered that Oz is actually Chris, the stripper. But now, thanks to a thrilling plot twist involving his character, I won’t be forgetting it anytime soon!
In this week’s episode number three, Akdeniz reappeared on the Ghosts set, portraying Chris – a stripper hired for a bachelorette party Sam is assisting at the manor. Unfortunately, chaos ensued as Chris took a risky move to skydiv into his act during the performance.
In the closing scene of the episode, Chris met with a tragic accident as he collided into Jay’s newly-opened restaurant. Undeniably, his demise is a source of sorrow. Yet, in an intriguing twist, it seems that Chris has become a ghost now, which adds an element of excitement to the storyline!
Initially, being a fan of both “High Potential” and “Ghosts”, I’m really fond of Akdeniz. Oz is such an entertaining character, and I’ve developed quite an affection for the actor due to him. Therefore, seeing him on the CBS sitcom again filled me with even more excitement.
To put it simply, if he’s a ghost, then he’s presumably confined to the property. This doesn’t imply that he will appear every episode. Given that “High Potential” has been renewed for Season 2, it seems unlikely he’ll be a permanent fixture on the CBS comedy. However, the chances of him reappearing are quite high, especially since “Ghosts” was renewed for another two seasons as well.
After the two-season renewal of Ghosts, Rose McIver, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Danielle Pinnock and others expressed their emotions with statements like, “I am tearing up so much right now.
I also find Akdeniz’s performance endearing, as his portrayal of Chris is downright comical. Remember the moment in Season 3, Episode 7 when he made his debut, stripping for Isaac (though he couldn’t see a ghost)? Well, envision how much laughter we’ll have if this new spirit could not only perceive but engage with Brandon Scott Jones’s soldier!
It seems quite likely that the dream will come true the following week, given that Chris turned into a ghost in the closing scenes of Episode 15.
Just like with the character Ghosts, numerous thoughts sprang up in my mind regarding this new plot development. Questions such as: What will Chris’ spectral abilities be? How will he relate to Isaac, who seems to have a crush on him? How will his feelings be about the dance he unknowingly performed for ghosts last season? He died wearing a parachute. Will that factor into anything? Are those pants uncomfortable for him? Will he and Trevor become friends? And many more questions keep arising, which is exciting because it leaves me eagerly anticipating more of this quirky mustached character.
Though I’m deeply fond of the primary cast in Ghosts, the peculiar band of spirits that pop up occasionally have me laughing just as heartily. They bring a fresh twist to the mansion, and it’s always entertaining to witness how our regular ghosts react when they encounter newcomers from outside the core group.
Not only is Chris an enjoyable character, but my appreciation for him has grown significantly since I’ve seen him in “High Potential” through my Hulu membership. This is largely due to the fact that the actor who portrays Oz brings a special charm to his role.
So, bring on Chris the stripper! Just because he’s dead doesn’t mean he’s given his last dance.
