So much so that I might consider going to watch a Marvel film in the cinema again, which is something I haven’t done in a long time. The impressive creative team they’ve gathered – an Avengers-like collaboration aimed at rejuvenating Marvel Studios’ cinematic division – certainly explains why they unveiled it on Letterboxd, the beloved movie journal for film enthusiasts.
Despite its typical explosive action, this trailer showcases more than the usual Marvel superhero scene as some of Hollywood’s leading actors don various super-suits and deliver witty remarks. However, it’s challenging to explain fully; you truly need to watch it yourself. As a cinephile, I found the trailer intriguing in its strategic framing of both the action and the talent involved. It boasts that it features “the stars of Midsommar, A Different Man, and You Hurt My Feelings,” which are all indie productions where Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus shone brilliantly. It’s an unexpected decision given their extensive resumes in more mainstream, high-profile films. However, this choice seems to align perfectly with the creative direction of the rest of the team, as hinted by Florence Pugh’s previous work on this film.
Among action-packed superhero scenes, additional information is provided: One title card reads “Written & Directed by the team behind ‘Beef'”, another mentions the Cinematographer of ‘The Green Knight’. Furthermore, have faith in their abilities to execute their roles instead of making them conform to your preconceived ideas! This message is fittingly conveyed by a film centered around an unanticipated group of outcasts.
