Actor Aamir Khan, famously called ‘Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist’, frequently finds his personal life under the media glare. Instead of nursing resentment, Aamir maintains a respectful relationship with both his former wives, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao. Looking back on his past romances, he acknowledged their profound impact on him. He underscored that even though they went separate ways, the affection and regard they hold for each other remains constant.
At the India Today Conclave 2025, Aamir Khan reminisced about his marriage to Reena Dutta and showed immense respect for his former spouses. He revealed how crucial their roles were in his life, stating, “The most valuable relationships I’ve had have been with these extraordinary individuals. Both Reena and Kiran are exceptional people. These two women have been by my side throughout my life, and they have greatly enriched it.
The actor from Laal Singh Chaddha stated, “We’ve indeed parted ways through a divorce, but it doesn’t imply that we don’t hold deep respect and affection for each other anymore. Perhaps our relationship has evolved differently.” He underscored his profound admiration not only for Kiran and Reena, but also their families. Additionally, he spoke about the strong bond he shares with Reena’s parents, and shared that her father’s recent demise had a profound impact on him.
For those not familiar, Aamir Khan’s romantic journey started back in 1986 when he wed Reena Dutta, who had a minor role in his first film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Together they welcomed Junaid and Ira into their family before deciding to part amicably in 2002, choosing instead to jointly raise their children.
In his second matrimony, he tied the knot with Kiran Rao, a director’s assistant from the movie Lagaan. They had a son named Azad Rao Khan through surrogacy in December 2011. Despite parting ways in 2021, their bond remained strong and they teamed up for the critically-acclaimed film Gully Boy.
In terms of his career, Aamir’s latest role was in Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), which featured Kareena Kapoor. Despite the movie’s less-than-stellar performance at the box office, he has chosen to concentrate more on producing movies under his own production house instead of acting. Nevertheless, he is planning to appear on screen again with Sitaare Zameen Par, a follow-up to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par.
