As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been diving headfirst into Monster Hunter Wilds, a game that initially generated quite a buzz at launch. However, it came with its fair share of optimization challenges. One issue that’s left me scratching my head is the inconsistency with the ultrawide feature on my monitor. It just doesn’t seem to function as intended, which can be quite frustrating when you’re in the heat of battle against those ferocious monsters!
Is a Monster Hunter Wilds ultrawide fix coming?
As of now, no recent news has been shared about resolving the ultrawide issue in Monster Hunter Wilds. Moreover, Capcom hasn’t provided any insights regarding this matter, leaving it uncertain if they have specific plans to tackle it. However, an update is scheduled for release on March 10, 2025, which aims to rectify multiple bugs and known issues. Fingers crossed, the ultrawide bug might be one of them.
As an excited player, I can’t wait for these upcoming patches! The first one, arriving in early April 2025, is titled Update 1. This update brings a new formidable foe into the mix, the Mizutusne, along with event quests, a cool Cosmetic DLC Pack, and importantly, further updates that may address some ongoing issues.
The second update doesn’t specify any bug fixes yet, but it promises another monster to battle, more event quests, and the launch of Cosmetic DLC Pack 2. I can hardly contain my excitement!
Although there’s no sanctioned resolution for the ultrawide issue, gamers have been proactive in rectifying it through unofficial modifications like the REFramework mod and Flawless Widescreen mod. These modifications are said to reinstate the game’s ultrawide compatibility, even supporting resolutions as wide as 32:9 and others. Nevertheless, be mindful that some users have experienced frequent crashes every half hour while using the REFramework mod, so exercise caution when deciding to install it. The Flawless Widescreen mod can be downloaded from its official site, whereas the REFramework is accessible on Nexus Mods.
In “Monster Hunter Wilds”, there’s a bug that occurs when the game isn’t fully displayed on ultrawide monitors. Instead, small gray bars appear at the edges of the screen. This issue surfaced before the game’s release, as some players noticed it while testing technical aspects with the Benchmark tool and during the open beta. Some believe that the game might be using an aspect ratio of 21:9, which is slightly different from the actual ultrawide aspect ratio of 16:9 or 32:9.
