John Goodman is currently healing up following an injury sustained while working on an unnamed film by Alejandro González Iñárritu, which will be released under Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment, with Tom Cruise as the leading man.
The actor “experienced a hip injury,” a Warner Bros. spokesperson said in a statement.
After getting prompt medical care, there was a short pause in filming so he could get better. The filming will continue again the following week once John has completely recovered.
The film was not shooting when Goodman was injured.
The unnamed film, marking Tom Cruise’s debut under his new contract with Warner Bros. and Alejandro Iñárritu’s first English-language production since “The Revenant” starring Leonardo DiCaprio more than 9 years ago, is scheduled for release in theaters on October 2, 2026. This date was previously reserved by the studio for their upcoming Batman sequel.
The movie features Tom Cruise portraying a man considered the most powerful globally, who undertakes a task to demonstrate his role as mankind’s savior before the calamity he has brought about wipes everything out. Alejandro González Iñárritu collaborated with Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris, and Nicolás Giacobone in writing the script. Mary Parent, alongside Iñárritu and Cruise, is producing the film under the Legendary banner.
Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde and Riz Ahmed round out the cast.
Filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu has been honored with two Best Director Oscars, one each for his films “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” and “The Revenant”. These movies also earned Leonardo DiCaprio his initial Best Actor Oscar following four nominations in the category. Additionally, “Birdman” fetched Iñárritu awards for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.
Emmy Award-winning actor Goodman is recognized for his film appearances in movies like “Argo,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” “The Big Lebowski,” and “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” He also lent his voice to characters in “Monsters Inc.” and “Monsters University.” On television, he’s known for his roles in shows such as “Roseanne,” “The Conners,” and “The Righteous Gemstones.
