Why does this matter? In the past few months, there’s been discussion about Ryan Reynolds’ Nicepool appearing to be modeled after Justin Baldoni, although this hasn’t been officially confirmed. However, Baldoni himself has mentioned it in his legal documents and his legal team claims that the character is intended as a mockery of their client.

In a subtle nod at the end of the movie, Blake Lively acknowledged Gordon Reynolds, the character name Ryan picked for his role in Nicepool. However, it remains unclear whether this was a private joke shared by a few or something that others were privy to. Despite Shawn Levy’s past involvement in creating Nicepool and his association with Marvel productions, neither he nor other crew members have been directly linked to the suits.
It’s clear that Ryan Reynolds revised a scene on the rooftop in “It Ends with Us” at some point, as both Blake Lively and the screenwriter confirmed this in August 2024. What isn’t certain is the exact timing of when this rewrite took place during the movie’s filming.
After the MCU film’s release, it was asked that Baldoni not attend the movie premiere where he both starred and directed.
