Even though her third studio album’s launch is imminent (on March 28 with the title PAID IN MEMORIES), Jessie Reyez isn’t easing up. She has been consistently releasing strong singles ahead of its release, and the most recent one is called “PSILOCYBIN & DAISIES.
For the sixth time before its official release, this new track features a portion of the Smashing Pumpkins’ hit “1979” as part of the song.
In his statement, Reyez expressed gratitude by saying, “Certain tunes are undeniably ageless. It’s a clever trick to borrow an element from an eternal melody and incorporate it into my own work. I wouldn’t be smart not to do it. Thanks to Billy for his generosity. Thanks to The Smashing Pumpkins for their timeless music. Thanks to mushrooms, and thanks to me.
Alongside the announcement, Reyez officially revealed the release date for her upcoming project titled “PAID IN MEMORIES.” This follows her 2022 release, “Yessie,” and boasts collaborations with artists such as Ari Lennox, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, and Miguel. Additionally, she disclosed the cover art, which is a picture from her eighth-grade yearbook.
She expressed gratitude, shared that she’s still navigating her journey, and noted that she’s well-off in affection, finances, inner strength, and cherished moments. In a bold way, she declared her success in an Instagram post.
