The captivating political series titled “Paradise” has kept audiences on the edge of their seats with its unexpected plot twists, suspenseful turns, and heart-pounding thrills. Originally, the central enigma revolved around the identity of President Cal’s (portrayed by James Marsden) killer, a mystery that has now been unveiled following the conclusion of Season 1. Yet, as we move into Season 2, even more intriguing questions have surfaced to keep us guessing!
In some instances, we anticipate that the questions below will help clarify minor story developments or address inconsistencies in the narrative, while others may significantly impact the characters and broader universe of Paradise. With each passing revelation about Season 2, it’s clear that there are bound to be more enigmas unveiled.

Did Anyone Listen to Trent?
In the final episode of season eight, it turned out that Eli, the librarian from Paradise, was actually Trent (played by Ian Merrigan). He had a history working on the site where the underground city was built. When he discovered the environment was contaminated, he tried to halt the project, but instead got fired. He then spread the truth about the situation, and when that failed, he attempted to kill Cal. This led to his arrest and imprisonment.
It was clear that Trent felt exasperated because people didn’t heed his cautions. What’s more, instead of feeling annoyed alone, us viewers found ourselves puzzled too.
A Huge Scandal
Attempted assassinations on presidents often spark widespread discussions, leaving us puzzled as to why reporters didn’t probe into Trent’s reasons. While his warnings might have been written off as the ravings of a lunatic, or perhaps the billionaires used their immense resources to hush him and avoid media scrutiny, it’s plausible that some conspiracy theorists (or even close associates) would have taken his concerns seriously. If this is true, there’s a chance that some of them may have survived the incident, which could potentially pose challenges for the community in the future.

How Did Trent’s Plan Succeed?
At the beginning of the series, it becomes clear that Jane (Nicole Brydon Bloom) and Billy (Jon Beavers) frequently played video games during work hours, a habit which put the President in danger. When Trent arrived to assassinate Cal, the guards were engrossed in their Wii console, providing an opportunity for Trent to enter unnoticed, attack Cal, and escape undetected. However, it’s left unexplained how Trent knew about their schedule, leading one to wonder if this was merely a fortunate guess… or perhaps there’s more to the story?
Potential Answers
It could be that, out of sight, Trent might have been studying the routines and behaviors of the bodyguards. But, considering he was previously a construction worker disguised as a librarian without any known espionage training, this task would have been quite challenging. Therefore, while this scenario is plausible, it seems incomplete or lacking some crucial details.
As a film buff pondering the mystery, it’s plausible that Trent might have had an accomplice within the system. If true, this confidant could have supplied him with insider knowledge about the guards’ routines, which he exploited to carry out the crime. In such a scenario, we’re left questioning their motives – perhaps they were as much of an outsider as Trent seemed to be.

How Did Trent and Maggie Stay Hidden?
In a surprising twist, it wasn’t Trent who exposed his own disguise, but his pretend wife Maggie (Michelle Meredith), due to an unusual habit – her fondness for nut-cheese, which contradicted the real Maggie’s nut allergy. It took the community a staggering three years to spot this inconsistency, along with other discrepancies between Trent and Maggie’s assumed roles. The question arises: wouldn’t a routine doctor’s visit have exposed this difference? If not, it leads us to wonder about the depth of planning in this supposedly well-structured community.
Other Impostors
If Trent understands the situation, it’s likely that others might too. If that’s the case, it’s quite possible that there are more impostors residing within the community. Keep in mind, one neighbor successfully brought a dog inside, so who knows what else – people, animals, or secrets – could be hiding among us.

Why did Jane Spare Presley?
Initially, Jane appeared kind and playful towards Billy, giving off the impression of a loving girlfriend. However, upon Sinatra’s command, she didn’t hesitate to cold-bloodedly kill him. In episode 8, she kidnaps Aliyah Mastin with plans to harm her in a similar way. Yet, following a phone conversation with Sinatra, she decided against it and safely returned Aliyah. On the surface, it seems that Jane opted to save Aliyah because Sinatra refused to give her a Wii, but was this reasoning truly straightforward?
A Wii Injustice
It’s no secret that we enjoy a top-notch Nintendo game just as much as anyone else. Yet, it strikes us as peculiar that Jane would disobey orders for such a minor issue. This behavior could suggest she’s a psychopath, has feelings for Presley, or her actions might reveal her hidden objectives. Given her statement about maintaining Sinatra merely to exploit him later, it appears her true intentions are what we’re dealing with here.

What’s Waiting on the Outside?
As a film enthusiast, delving beyond my familiar surroundings, I stumbled upon a deer one day, and it was the search party from Paradise who discovered a survivor. Sinatra, brilliantly played by Julianne Nicholson, had amassed recordings of survivors, some possibly fabricated, but it’s plausible that others were authentic. This suggests that beyond Paradise, more communities have persisted, raising intriguing questions about their nature and whether they could pose challenges for our primary characters.
A SciFi Universe
It’s quite possible that the paradise you’ve come across has a few more SciFi surprises in store for us. Maybe it could involve mutated inhabitants or other consequences stemming from nuclear explosions. Although Cal made an attempt to defuse those bombs, we can’t be sure if he managed to completely neutralize them, or if some other calamity was set off for the survivors afterwards.

What Will Happen to the Community?
While neither Cal nor Sinatra were flawless figures, their leadership was essential for our community. The current President seems hesitant to lead, and individuals like Jeremy Cal, who is relatively new to the position, are stepping up. As a result, we’re left questioning who will guide us in the upcoming weeks – a crucial concern as our community needs strong leadership to face potential external threats.
She Wasn’t Wrong
It isn’t an overstatement that welcoming others into the community may lead to significant problems. With Xavier (Sterling K. Brown) departing to be with his spouse, there’s a high chance more individuals might follow suit. If they do, Paradise could rapidly transform from a haven into something quite different. Furthermore, the community members are likely still reeling from the disclosure of Cal’s murder and Sinatra’s attempts to cover it up, making orderly leadership crucial to prevent chaos from erupting.

What’s Next for Sinatra?
By the finale of episode 8, Sinatra lies in the hospital, teetering on the brink of death due to Jane’s gunshot wound. Her road to recovery seems prolonged, with her daughter and husband by her side for support. While her brush with death might drive her closer to her family, as she often emphasizes that they are her greatest priority, it could also fuel a stronger resolve to safeguard the community (thereby ensuring the safety of her loved ones). This could potentially lead to an even more formidable adversary emerging.
The Real Monster
Despite all discussions about lethal bodyguards and altered individuals outside, Sinatra stands as the primary antagonist in the series so far. Though she’s temporarily incapacitated now, we suspect that won’t last for long. And when she returns, it seems she may become even more merciless.

Is Xavier’s Wife Really Alive?
Among all the enigmas unfolding in Season 2, it’s clear that the one troubling Xavier the most is this one. Upon hearing his wife’s voice on the tape, he grew resolute about locating her. Yet, there are many indications suggesting that the voice might not have been Teri’s. For example, she failed to mention her professional title of “Doctor,” something she emphasized earlier. Furthermore, even if it was indeed her voice, it doesn’t guarantee she’s still alive, or that Xavier will be able to successfully find her.
A Good Father
Just prior to parting ways, Xavier’s wife implored him to be a great father. However, if he’s following her, his children will remain elsewhere. In essence, much like Sinatra, Xavier appears to face the challenge of determining how to safeguard his family, leading us to ponder whether he’ll keep searching for Teri, potentially forever, even at the cost of fulfilling what she had requested of him.
