‘The Queen of Versailles’ Musical to Play Broadway’s St. James Theater Next Season

This fall, the “The Queen of Versailles” musical featuring Kristin Chenoweth will be performed at the St. James Theatre.

The show, centered around TV personality Jackie Siegel, additionally includes actors like F. Murray Abraham. Notably, Stephen Schwartz, the composer of “Wicked”, provides the music. Performances for this musical will commence at St. James from October 8th. A glamorous red-carpet event has been scheduled for November 9th, followed by a press opening on November 10th.

The musical’s script is penned by Lindsey Ferrentino, who is known for “Amy and the Orphans”. Michael Arden, famous for “Parade”, takes on the directorial role, while Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant, both from “Parade”, handle the choreography.

(This version maintains the order of the information presented, but uses simpler language and more conversational phrasing to make it easier for a reader to understand.)

The Queen of Versailles is orchestrated by Bill Damaschke, Seaview, Sonia Friedman, and Chenoweth. This production subsequently moved to Broadway following its stint at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston.

Chenoweth expressed great enthusiasm about going back to Broadway and debuting as a producer there with this exceptional team. She’s thrilled to be working with Stephen again, who is an extraordinary songwriter, and considers herself fortunate that they can collaborate once more on this original musical. Under the guidance of renowned director Michael Arden, their goal is to bring Lindsey Ferrentino’s enthralling story vividly to the stage.

Additional casting for the show will be announced at a later date.

The play is inspired by Lauren Greenfield’s 2012 documentary “The Queen of Versailles,” which follows Jackie Siegel and her husband David Siegel as they endeavor to construct the biggest private residence in America, located in Orlando. However, their dreams of a $100 million mansion for themselves and their eight children are disrupted by the 2008 financial crisis.

As a devoted theater-goer, I’m thrilled to share that starting from now until July 13, the St. James Theatre will be under the captivating spell of “Sunset Blvd.”, featuring the talented Nicole Scherzinger. It’s going to be an unforgettable run!
