Shemar Moore Has A Netflix Request After CBS Has Finally (And Firmly) Canceled S.W.A.T., And He Makes A Lot Of Good Points

Here we go once more, everyone. For the third time now, CBS has decided to end the run of the action-drama series “S.W.A.T.”, starring Shemar Moore. The actor himself shared this news via his social media channels, expressing gratitude for the opportunities that CBS has provided him and, yet again, urging fans to rally support for the show’s continuation. Interestingly, Moore also hinted at potential opportunities with Netflix, making a compelling case for its consideration.

As we approach the final two episodes of the 2025 TV schedule for S.W.A.T., which could potentially lead to its cancellation this year, Shemar Moore, the actor who plays Hondo, is not going quietly into the night – unless he can persuade Netflix to keep the series running. In a heartfelt message to his fans and Hollywood, Moore appealed to Netflix to save S.W.A.T. from being taken off the air.

Hi Netflix, just checking in! I wanted to bring up an interesting fact from the past – it took us only two weeks to climb from No. 15 to No. 1 on your platform, and we maintained a position within your top 10, 15, or even for a year. If you’re seeking a show that has global appeal and runs smoothly, we’d be thrilled to collaborate with you!

Shemar Moore presents some compelling arguments. Currently, the first seven seasons of S.W.A.T. can be streamed with a Netflix subscription. Given the show’s popularity among Netflix viewers – it consistently ranks as one of their most binge-worthy shows following its debut on the platform – there’s a strong likelihood that a ninth season would perform well on Netflix too.

Netflix is known for rescuing certain series that have been canceled by their original networks. For instance, in 2018, Netflix picked up “Designated Survivor” for a third season after it was dropped by ABC. Similarly, Fox’s “Lucifer” was saved from cancellation that same year. Other shows like “Longmire” and “The Killing” have also found a second life on Netflix.

Although it’s widely assumed that the streamer may intervene, it’s not a certainty. Fans speculated that the connection between creator Shonda Rhimes and Netflix could lead to Station 19 being acquired by them, but despite coming very close, this didn’t happen in the end.

Regardless of how things turn out for Shemar Moore and the rest of the SWAT cast, it’s understandable that he would try his best. Both the actors and fans had high hopes for a ninth season, with co-developer Shawn Ryan stating that CBS executives were among SWAT’s enthusiasts. Creatively, the scripts continued to be as strong as ever.

This struggle has lasted for a while now, with the series “S.W.A.T.” facing its initial cancellation in 2023 after completing Season 6. However, this decision was quickly overturned, but unfortunately, the action-drama was canceled again after Season 7. Incredibly, CBS decided to alter their stance once more, commissioning a eighth and, as of now, concluding season.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but wonder if Netflix will respond to Shemar Moore’s pleas and intervene to save S.W.A.T. Only time will tell, but for now, don’t miss out on the final two episodes of Season 8 airing at 10 p.m. ET on Friday, March 14, and April 4. Tune in to CBS or stream them the following day with a Paramount+ subscription.
