Death Stranding 2: On the Beach’s Latest Trailer Reveals Several New Characters

Approximately ten years have passed since Kojima Productions unveiled Death Stranding, and now, under the leadership of Hideo Kojima, they’re preparing for the launch of Death Stranding 2.

The latest teaser for Death Stranding 2: Beach Edition has been unveiled, revealing its planned launch in June of this year. Notably, the video showcased several fresh faces and some well-known celebrities making appearances—similar to the initial installment.

New Trailer for DS2: On the Beach

The trailer spans more than ten minutes, offering an unprecedented glimpse into the game, introducing fresh creatures and upcoming characters. Don’t miss it!

Although KojiPro prefers to leave the storyline ambiguous in their trailers, the game itself includes an authentic summary, which states:

(Or)

KojiPro tends to maintain mystery in their trailer narratives, but the game provides a clear synopsis as follows:

Begin an uplifting expedition that transcends the Universal Connection Alliance… Sam, accompanied by his comrades, embarks on a fresh adventure to prevent humankind from vanishing. Witness their journey through a realm plagued by otherworldly adversaries, hurdles, and a chilling enigma: is our connection beneficial?

In a thrilling twist, it seems like I, as an ardent fan, will be joining Sam and his intrepid crew on an extraordinary journey across the globe. This time, instead of navigating through post-apocalyptic North America, we’ll be charting uncharted territories aboard a remarkable vessel captained by none other than Tarman (George Miller/Marty Rhone). Our shared objective remains the same: to forge connections that bind our world together.

Characters from Star Wars Jedi and Suicide Squad will recall Debra Wilson, the Doctor character in the game. It’s suggested that she’s the one who assists Rainy during childbirth, and an intriguing detail about her is that she has two right hands – a commonality in games created by Kojima.

It’s been several months now, and the game has announced that Elle Fanning (Tomorrow), Shioli Kutsuna (Rainy), and Lea Seydoux (Fragile) are joining the cast. The latest trailer reveals additional stars will be part of this production as well.

Who Else is Going to be in the Game?

The trailer initiates by introducing a fresh character, Neill (played by Luca Marinelli), who appears to be an unwilling military figure under the government. It’s suggested that this Neill might be romantically involved with Lucy (Alissa Jung), who seems to be connected to the same enigmatic organization.

It appears that Neil is set to take over the role initially held by Mads Mikkelsen in the initial game, leading a team of elite soldiers tasked with halting Sam. There’s a striking resemblance between Neil and Solid Snake from Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear series, a similarity that Kojima himself has acknowledged.

Celebrity Cameos

Apart from several prominent figures, action star Ma Dong-seok, known for his roles in Eternals and Train to Busan, is also featured briefly, appearing as a possible customer of Sam’s. Similar to the previous game, it incorporates cameos by well-known personalities such as Conan O’Brien, Daichi Miura, Junji Ito, Edgar Wright, and many others.

It seems that renowned video game creator Kojima has been posting pictures with various celebrities such as Jordan Peele and Hunter Schafer on social media, which may hint at these stars making appearances in the upcoming game DS2. Patience is key, though, as fans will only find out for certain once the game officially launches.

Watch for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach when it launches on June 26 for the PS5.
