You might remember Taha Shah as the captivating character Tajdar from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, but many may not be aware that he made his acting debut alongside Shraddha Kapoor in the 2011 film Luv Ka The End. Unfortunately, this movie didn’t perform well at the box office, and Taha’s career had a difficult start despite his Bollywood introduction. Lately, Taha has spoken openly about this experience and expressed that it taught him the importance of acknowledging his weaknesses, investing time, energy, focus, and building on these areas to transform them into strengths.
During a chat with News18 Showsha, actor Taha Shah discussed his professional path, opening up about the challenges he faced, the missteps he made, and his memorable collaboration with Shraddha Kapoor on the widely-shared Mutton Song from his first movie.
Taha stated, “Everyone is breaking down, I am too.” He underscored that feeling weak, discouraged, and on the verge of quitting are all normal and inevitable feelings. Yet, he highlighted that ultimately, it’s each person’s choice whether to retreat or keep moving forward.
As I navigate through life, I’ve come to realize that each day I’m alive presents me with another chance to achieve my goals. Recognizing that we all encounter challenges, I find myself deeply appreciative of the chance to follow my passions and strive for success in every moment.
Although he hadn’t achieved a significant career milestone yet, he viewed each challenge as an opportunity to identify his areas for improvement. Emphasizing persistence, he underlined the significance of investing effort, attention, and determination in conquering these weaknesses and converting them into assets.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but reminisce about the legendary Mutton Song from Luv Ka The End, where Taha took the dance floor by storm in a female costume. This iconic number recently resurfaced with the release of Heeramandi last year. Intrigued, I wondered how he mustered the courage for such a performance, especially considering it was his debut film. Reflecting on this experience, the actor shared his thoughts.
He noted that famous actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan have donned female attire in several songs. On the day of filming, he reminisced about how he first put on a ghagra choli, had his makeup applied, but felt something was amiss.
After an hour had passed, my team graciously offered me a wig, and it was then that everything clicked. I attribute the wig’s presence as instrumental in enabling me to wholeheartedly embrace the role, immersing myself completely in the character.
